I would say My Mister is better on the second viewing.
Once the plot and what will happen next is not an issue you start to pick on so many other things.
I did like My Liberation Notes but not as much. However, you will still find the amazing dialogues and thought provoking quotes.

My Favourite of all time in any language.

House MD. used to be my favourite. Not even Breaking Bad managed to dethrone it, but "My Mister" did that.
If I have to pick just one thing that makes it special then I would say it is the writing, and I am reading subtitles. This must be even better in the original.
This lady can easily write novels.

For the record, I am not her fan. This is the first drama I am watching with her.

I beg to disagree that she is a bad actress. I think she is doing fine with the role she has.
But, I don't think there is big demand placed on either of the leads. This drama is lighthearted, and most of the time they are goofing around. I mean, how hard is it to act playing in an arcade? lol
In the more serious scenes I thought she is fine. Nothing special like Shin hye Sun, or Park Eun Bin for example, but not bad either.
...also she is very beautiful lol. I know this is very shallow, but it never hurts to be that gorgeous lol.

However, acting skills evaluation is very subjective. Other might think she is very good actress, and I am afraid there is no equation to prove whether someone is good or bad actor.
Also, popularity and good acting, no matter where, don't always go together, and one doesn't always lead to the other.

I am sorry, but how can you ignore her?
The character, whether on screen or not, has been behind 90% of events in one way or another since she appeared.

The series has taken really a disappoing turn around episode 12.
I don't understand the writer. They sidlined Soomin , who is the most interesting character and played probably by the best actor in the series in favour of a grotesque character played by a poor actress.
Instead of just mildly increase the pacing to wrap the individual stories, they chose to go whacky and crazy which is at odds from the rest of the series. Now they will probably have to wrap things very quickly.
What a waste!
I am not saying the series is bad (First 10 episodes were good), but my evaluation of it certainly suffered a lot.

If you are interested in languages in general, I would recommend reading 2 short stories by Ted Chiang: "The Truth of fact, The Truth of Feeling" fascinating story about written vs. spoken stroytelling, "histrorical accuracy" and just things about language.
The other is the famous "Story of your life" that was the basis for the movie Arrival, which I also recommend.
Btw..I am also couple of generations older than your average MDL user lol.

But, I am not interested in ratings, or whether it is popular or not.
I would also strongly disagree with the assumption that high rating = good drama. High rating just means that lots of people are watching.

I am interested in the why. I am mainly interested in the discussion and thought process.

I wish I know what Koreans in Korea think about dramas, not only this one.
I think we are mostly international fans on MDL talking between each other.
I think it would be interesting if there were at least few clearly identified Koreans living in Korea sharing their thoughts.

If you mean major global disasters, I doubt very much you can do it.
You will be lucky if you can stop people around you from doing stupid things lol.

So, if Sumin thinks about it. How can MinHwan has Azoospermia and still believe her that she is pregnant?
So she might think that Jiwon was lying, but if this confirmed later, then wouldn't Sumin be thinking how did Jiwon know that?
I know we will not get there because the series will end lol, but she is essentially blew her cover.

Jinwon told Sumin that she can't be pregenant because MinHwan has Azoospermia.
Now, how does she know that, and MinHwan himself doesn't? Otherwise he wouldn't have believed Sumin.
So, when I thought about it, it has to be something she learnt later from her marriage with him. But, doesn't revealing this will raise many questions? She knows something that even the person in question doesn't???

I have a question, which is simple, but I think it is fairly big plot hole unless I missed something.

There is something special about friendship that is true.
Generally speaking, this is one of the attraction of Kdramas over American ones for me.
In Kdramas friendship is a much more present and prominent feature(sometimes it is way better than the romance), while in American dramas you have that carousel of everyone sleeping with everyone.
So, I agree. Also, it kind of removes the tention. For me, the best part of romantic series/movies are the early phases. Once they confess to each other lots of the fun is gone.

While I came to watch a lot of Korean dramas and movies, I am not into Kpop.

The younger version was WAY scarier. That smirk was horror level creepy.
Anyway, what I meant is thrusting an actor in the limelight rather than comparing the individual performances.
