Title My Mister
Well, it finally happened... after 130+ dramas, I've rated a series a 10. This was a brilliantly written + directed…
I have also given only one 10, and it is to "My Mister", which became my favourite drama of all times in any language. And, that is coming from a middle aged person who watched tons of TV.
Believe it or not, the series will be even better on subsequent viewings. Now that you know what happens, your complete attention will be directed to dialogue and all sorts of other things that you missed first time around.
The writer is really amazing. I wish she start writing novels. I wanted to buy the script of the series, but couldn't find it in English.
The only downside of watching it is that you won't find anything else that good.
So, here are couple of tips to help you lol :
*Watch it again, it is really worth it.
*Go on youtube and watch a series of videos by Man vs. Drama. He revisits scenes from episodes and talk about them. He is really good.
*After some time try to watch "Lost". There is no guarantee that you will like it, but in my opinion it has similar vibes.

I'm not even sure western romcom tv shows exist in the same way that movies or kdramas do to be quite honest.…
I want to take a break from Kdramas. None of the last 5 I watched reached 7 for me, although LND came extremly close.
So, I will be watching from here and there.

Just wanted to say see you around as I am calling it a day for comments on this drama.
Sometimes we disagreed, sometimes we agreed, I enjoyed those discussions :)

Just a thought about a rom-com shouldn't have sad parts.
I am not sure how, or where this opinion was formed?
Rom-com always had obstacles, difficulties and problems to overcome. Sometimes even deaths. You need those things so you have that cathartic joy at the end. If everything is plain sailing it is not fun at all.
Admitedly I have never been into Western rom-com TV shows (with few exceptions), but I watched lots of movies. They are really not that different in terms of the overall structure. There are always problems to overcome, there is the brake up, and then reconciliation.
In the last few years, I have also started to dip my toes in romantic books. And, again, they have all sorts of difficulties, including torture, suffering, and death.
In the last few years I started watching Kdramas, and what actually made me watch romantic Kdramas is the fact that they are not only about romance, but also about life in general.
To me, this is their BIGGEST strength.
My point is, throughout my life, the overwhelming majority of rom-coms had sad parts, and sometimes the lovers don't even end up together. So, I really wonder why people were complaining that there were sad , and heavy parts?
Btw..I don't think LND is some great series, but it is a bit unfair to consider having sad parts a negative. In my opinion, the negative was that it didn't have enough of it.

If you like childhood friends to lovers , and you don't mind reading long books, then a book that I really liked is...
But, it is not a romance book. It just have that arching relationship between the two main characters.

Agreed. I thought them having an argument was really cool. I liked that bit.
Tbh, by that time I was about to die from fluffiness and syrupy stuff coimg at at me from every corner lool, so a scene that brought us back to some normalcy was very welcome.
I thought the final scene was very cool, them ending where they started, but instead of friends they are couple.
As a man of certain age, lol, my experience taught me that for a long term relationships liking your partner might be even more important than having this mad love, because no matter how strong it is, it will fade and diminish. So, you really need to like your partner so you can still be together and work things out.

A bit of mixed bag.
The biggest issue is the mediocre execution of really good themes. Ideas, and headlines were more than good, but the writer/director duo did only an okey job in the execution department.
Pacing was also an issue. The resolution to almost all problems came way too early. The last 3-4 episodes were just going through the motion for 70% of the run time.
But, a great chemistry between all 4 leads, and some good stuff around the middle (unlike the majority, I liked the series most when it was heavy) balanced things out.
It was decent overall, worth my time and I got some enjoyment and fun.

Before I give my score, please know that I don't give high marks easily (Only 45% got 8+ from me. And only 1 series got 10). So, if it seems too low for you, that is not because I am hating on it, or want to bring the average down. I am just being consistent with myself.

Just to let you know so you can manage your expectations, the series is not about lovey dovey, and cutesy romance.
While it has romance, it is much more about the exploration of modern relationships through 3 different friends,
So, the overall tone is leaning lightharted, but the issues and topics discussed are actually serious.

In my opinion "Because This is My First Life" is by far her best role, and the series itself is also very good even if it wasn't a rating hit.

I know a lot of similar situation in real life.
While often there is no money exchanged , there is a compensation in different ways (shopping, made up stories about special discounts, expensive gifts, etc)

lmao mdl has a trend going on lately , users suddenly hating on a popular drama once it comes to an end , pretty…
While some of what you say is true, it is not entirely accurate, or true.

Don't you think it is equally strange that a drama will have a very high rating after just few episodes?
I would say what usually happen is that lots of people who like the series just go on and rated very highly, I guess in hope for more people to watch?
But, probably the majority of people just wait until it ends and then rate it. And those, on the whole will not be as in love with a series as those early ones, and therfore the average will ultimately, and naturally decrease.

For example, I like this series, and I am enjoying it. I think it is good, but when it comes to rating, it is somewhere between 7 and 7.5.
I don't hate it, or I am against it. I just don't think it deserves 8 plus. Sometimes things are simple. There is no conspiracy.

Has anyone here watched Alchemy of Souls or Snowdrop? I’m thinking about giving them a try and would love to…
Alchemy of Souls has an amazing start, but it drags a LOT. 30 episodes for what could have been a standard 16-20 episodes.
That said, it is enjoyable overall.

It would help to know why you hate her?
I can't remember in which episode, but everything will be explained.
I don't know whether you genuinely feel "hate" towards the character, or this is just a figure of speech, and it is more like dislike.
Personally, I didn't hate her or disliked her at any point. Yes, I questioned some of her behaviour, but on the whole, I had understanding for her.

Hey guys, Does this have many sad or melodramatic scenes? I hoping for a romcom with slice of life type of thing…
"Many" is a subjective thing I am afraid.
All I can say is that there is a certain amount of sadness and angst. And there is melodrama.
There has been wide range of reaction to that. Some have thought it was too much, and some (like me) felt that it wasn't, because it all made sense. If anything, I wanted more.

I am sorry if my answer is not a simple yes, or no, but it is really hard to know your tolernace level.
But, If you are looking for "Business Proposal" type of drama, then this is not it.

Burger with onion rings is a delicious meal :)
On a serious note, originality is overrated in my opinion. It is not the idea or novelty that makes dramas good.
The execution is far more important.
Furthermore, this is a drama about life (not sci-fi or fantasy). Is there any human interaction that hasn't been already explored?
By the way, it is perfectly fine if you don't like it, or even you think it is bad, but the "we have seen this before" is what I am objecting to, because almost everything has been seen before in one way or another.
