Yes. I agree fully with that. Don't open ratings until it finish. And I also think there is a value in your other suggestion about giving a grace period. At least enforce that when you know there is a big controversy going on.

I want to go slightly off topic and ask a question of principle regardless of this drama. I am curious about your opinion.
Is it justified to give a book/movie/TV show a very low score because you hated it for reasons other than artistic? Let me give an example. If you watch a movie where the entire talent in front and behind the camera is A list, but it glorify something you profoundly disagree with. You end the movie very angry with the message and in a really bad mood. Then you are asked to score it. Can you really see past that feeling? even if you acknowledge the "craft"? I think the overwhelming majority would give a very low score, and I think you can see that done even by very respectful people in both ways (awarding high scores to works that align with their views) Ultimately, the messages are integral parts of the work.
Personally, I can understand the concept of giving a work very low score because you profoundly disagree with it. However, what I completely disagree with is condemning a work without consuming it.

I think the series would have went down either way, because that last episode was genuinely bad even if you remove that contoversial scene. I know some people who don't know about this whole circus (I was one of them before coming here) and they also hated that last episode. However, I think it would have probably settled around 8.4-8.5.
Personally I think there is an inflation in ratings anyway, but that is a different discussion.

That is not a bad idea at all. Maybe a compromise would be you can rate, but there is no overall rating. Hopefully force people to actually read some reasoning behind score.
But, this will not happen. Ultimately MDL wants traffic, and rating is one of the biggest source of it.
i'm on the beginning of ep 11 but I'm rethinking if i should finish it or not
If you still have reserves of suspension of disbelief lol, then watch them, but they are objectively worse than the rest. E12 in particular, regardless of all this controversy, is genuinely bad.
I came here after watching the last episode, and was surprised by all this. For full disclosure I thought the last episode was terrible regardless of this issue. The series started SO well with very interesting premise and plot, but the suspension of disbelief required kept getting bigger and bigger. Revelations made prior actions look even more absurd. By the end of E11, the series has already dropped to about 6.5-7.5. However, the last episode pushed me beyond my limits. I mean, it was ridiculous. I thought I was watching a bad episode of the A team or something. Our ML suddenly turned in some kind of Action Hero. Give me a break! I came here to see whether it was only me, but all I read is about something completely different.
You are saying it was a mistranslation. I am genuinely interested to know the correct one, and I would be thankful if you provide it.
I am not a person who judge things by last episode, but this was epically bad! The series started so well with promising plot and idea, but around the middle the suspension of disbelief was required in greater and greater quantities. The last episode was just a disaster.
Not sure about score, but probably 5.5 or 6/10 for the early episodes.
And to those who donโt quite know what the threat of martial law means to Koreaโฆ get informed about Korean…
Unfortunately Han Kang is a private person, but I wish she comes out and say something. Many of her books are against the oppressing of people and what a military regime can do.
At its core is transforming the country from democracy to dictatorship. Essentially the President can get rid…
Ok. Thanks. I read that on BBC, but if you are Korean/Korean origin as your name suggest, then you probably know what you are talking about. Either way, I can't see him surviving to the end of his term. I am surprised his party didn't already completely ditch him just from selfish perspective. He is a big liability to them. But, honestly, he needs to be tried for what he tried to pull. Impeachment is not enough. I am not usually prone to hyperbolic statements, but considering that SK has been a democracy only for about 35 years, his action was a genuine threat to the process.

He survived the impeachment vote by 3 votes. The opposition has 192 out of 300 members. To impeach him they needed 2/3. So, they needed 8 members from his party to vote with them. Only 5 did that. He is still under huge pressure to resign though because of demonstrations, and potential national strikes.
In general I like the fact that Kdramas are a bit of everything, but this works well when they usually don't loose focus of the main stroyline/premise, and I have seen this done very well in many dramas.
Furthermoe, knowing that there are only 12 episodes the creative team should have paid more attention.
I don't think the problem is all "structural", although a bit might be. I think they got cold feet. They wanted to present something new, but didn't have the courage to do it wholeheartdly. They probably thought it won't be perceived well. So, they went for this half assed measure, where we had a taste of it, but then went back to the usual stuff.
P.S: I am aware this is a remake, and this or that might have been in the original. If they wanted to change things they can very easily do it.
Let me first say that Ra Mi Ran is a legend! The last episode wrapped up nicely, but it left me with even bigger sense of what could have been. I wish the series filled its time in what happened in those 4 years instead of giving us the usual serving of Kdramas after luring us with a fresh premise (for Kdramas) and bold topics. All that said, it was a good drama which offered something different even if it was in mild doses. We were certainly treated to some good comedy, and some memorable scenes. The friendship between the female leads was also nice and heartwarming. The acting was solid by everyone, but without any stand out performance that one can remember for years to come. Surprisingly, I felt the FL was probably the least engaging from the 4. I don't know whether this is the actress or the charcter design/direction.
Good, and entertaining with some bold discussions about some taboos. However, the overall feeling is that of missed opportunity due to its failure to fully embrace its premise. 7.5/10

Hot Stove League (Sport Team)
Black Dog (School)
Misaeng: Incomplete Life (Corporation)
These have no romance or action.
Maybe she is considered as an (semi)established now.
