Strong premise and set-up. Strong cast. But, I think the writing is only Ok. The tone is all over place, and the storytelling is a bit loose. I hope it will find its stride and rythem as it progresses.
So, Sung Dong II role is already done? That is really disappointing. He was one the major attractions for me (after Kim Min Ha). Jun Ho looks very clearly older than 26 despite the youthful look of the Korean actors. Couldn't they just make him 30? I don't think it would have made big difference.
Anyway, other than that, it is a solid first episode. I didn't find it great (lots of needless scenes) but the setting is promising.
Nobody can tell me this is not GL. Jooran and Jeongnyeon's parting is not how besties say goodbye š¹ those are…
*Just watched E11* I have complained sooooo much about people shipping friends and seeing love when it is just friendship. BUT, 100% agree with you. That is not how friends say goodbye. I mean who would say to her friend "My one and only prince"? (This line is SO F* memorable!!) I also don't think that we always need a kiss, but it was NEEDED here. The scene demanded it. It is an absolute cowardice that TvN didn't go for it. (I am 100% convinced this was the network decision, not the creative team). I think the creative team shoould have implied it if they were not allowed to do it.
Anyway, the series is AMAZING! I still have one episode to go.
The movie "As Good As It Gets" in 1997 starred Jack Nicholson & Helen Hunt. It was a rom-com with a 26 (Twenty Six) years age gap. The movie was a massive artistic and commercial success. It won Oscars for both lead. The movie itself was nominted for best picture. It also won both leads comedy awards, and whole bunch of other stuff. Commercially it made around $320m. Adjusted for inflation almost $650m!!! And they didn't need any special effects or being a franchise.
My point is if the writing is good enough, and the drama has high quality artistic elements, then it shouldn't be big problem. Also, when people are above 35, age gap start to matter less.
On a purely personal level, I don think the difference is a bit big, but it is not such a big issue to stop me from watching. The quality of the drama itself what will ultimately matter.
Go Youn Jung.....*sigh*. I'll be open minded given the team behind it.Nice to see Oh Jung Se.
You were having such a nice and interesting conversation and I was reading it with interest before you decided to switch to your language. I understand it is easier, but that was a pity, because you excluded everybody else.
from Park Hae Young's essay:"This time, itās a real comedy. When I say comedy, I donāt mean āfunnyā…
Hmmm. I am not too excited by this. Another Miss Oh "funny" parts were mostly terrible. The best thing she did was leaving all the cringness away from My Mister. It is fine to have some humour scattered, but a character like the brother and his girlfriend in Another Miss Oh was SOOOO cringe I had to fastforward almost all the brother scenes.
She is the best Korean screenwriter in terms of simple, but deep dialogues imo. I hope she stick to that, and leave comedy to others.
Oh boy, this did not need a third season. I loved the ending of season 2, it really was better than I expected.…
Please don't watch S3 if you also think S2 wrapped it very nicely. Unless you take an action these platforms will keep producing more and more useless seasons and ruin shows. There is no point of complaining, but then watching. You will be just assisting in maintaining the situation.
It is an Ok series. Certainly watchable thanks to the leads and very polished and sleek presentation. In short, it has very nice exterior. However, I couldnāt connect a lot with its content. Most cases were underwhelming apart from maybe 2 or 3 at most. I liked episodes 9 & 10 the most. E04 was also a decent one. The office politics and power struggle is what I enjoyed most in the series. All in all it is mildly enjoyable, but I have already forgot most of it. 5.5/10
Is that why you jumped from the window? Lets see what happen next week, and next week, and week, as the series…
My apologies, it looks like you didn't get the reference. I was making a joke. Have you actually read/seen Macbeth by William Shakespeare? From your handle I assumed you are a fan of the play. I was making a wordplay based on the events of it, and its most famous speech.
A chef competition with broken stove. r u kidding mešš
Is that why you jumped from the window? Lets see what happen next week, and next week, and week, as the series moves on from episode to episode to the last scene of scheduled run.
chae min is good so far but I wish Park Sung Hoon didnāt drop the role,, he fits it so perfectly
I didn't know that, but that feels a very strange replacement. So, they were going to cast a 40 years old actor, but when he turned it down, they replaced him with a 24 years old?!
As someone who hasn't watched mr queen.... I'm enjoying this one quite a lot so far ep 1 was engaging and not…
Personally I thought Mr Queen E01 was better on every single level.
But, this is not to belittle this series. I thought it was good and enjoyable first episode. I am certainly looking forward to E02, and I think this will be a really fun series.
I decided to ignore the low scores and watch. I watched until the middle of 2nd episode and stopped. The core story is really good, and I would have loved a proper exploration of that. My big problem is the tone shifts. I wish the series was just drama without any "comedy". I find the "comedy" mostly silly, not funny, and just a hindrance to the subject matter.
So, my question: does the series get more serious, or is that "comedy" will be ongoing?
How did Se jin go from not driving to driving sport car so smoothly in such short time? I really like the series, but it has so many annoying small things like these. Attention for details is poor.
I don't actually have a problem with Ho-su losing his hearing, but I wish the drama was more consistent with his…
The series is really good, and I like it a lot. But, the writer isn't the greatest plotter. s/he writes very good scenes. Themes, and individual pieces are good, but the connection between them, or logic is often lacking.
I still marvel at the fact that Jinyoung and Boyoung can have such great chemistry as Miji and Hosu, but not as…
"I still marvel at the fact that Jinyoung and Boyoung can have such great chemistry as Miji and Hosu, but not as Mirae and Hosu. The same goes for Miji x Sejin x Mirae. Miji and Sejin have such bff vibes together "
It is a proof that Park Bo Young is a very good actress. Also, it shows that chemistry is more than putting two beautiful people together.
But, I think the writing is only Ok. The tone is all over place, and the storytelling is a bit loose.

Mr Queen being a man is very key and major difference.
There are similarties, but the gender swap in Mr Queen is an absolutely key to everything.
