I enjoyed it for the most part. Loved the quirky fl,she's adorable most times. Hate the love ๐บ๏ธ so stupid, unnecessary and unrealistic. Should've given the swimmer his own love interest, then we would've had 3 cute love stories. I like stoic, quiet mls. He's an introvert not cold, there's a difference. I find nothing wrong with ml's acting, though I prefer it when he's fighting like in Blossoms in adversity- he must be a trained martial artist.
Nothing can ever be as good as WIFTY๐ I've not been able to finish episode 1 of this, so i came here to see if it's worth it. Ah well, I may come back.
What a disgusting episode (ep8) in the guise of independent women/strong women/ wonder woman concept...... The…
Agreed. I still don't understand why south eastern asian drama writers (j, c, and kdrama writers) think that to portray a woman as strong, she has to be rude, abusive, aggresive, alcoholic, unable to cook or clean even for herself, sleep around etc This isn't what makes a strong woman; just a nasty human being and western propaganda. They've destroyed their society but somehow people still copy their sick way of life. You're not strong by being nasty to others-whatever the gender. You're just nasty. You're not strong by getting drunk all the time and not being able to properly care for yourself, because goodness forbid a 'strong' woman knows her way round a kitchen. I wonder why writing healthy relationships where the couple is nice to each other has become such rocket science?
I don't understand the complainers in the comment section. If you don't like it, then skip it, simple! For me, this has been an epic ride so far- for the most part. Still holding the last 4 episodes till the weekend so I can savour it, like desert. Love the first part when she's a trainee in the camp best. Her fascination with his waist is funny. The fight scenes- good lord! They're epic, especially the war with the last deputy general. The part where they fought together with the horse coming in and it wasn't hurt or killed-love, love it. Love the stoic ml general who actually looks manly enough to be a general. Again, the fight scenes are just amazing!!! I didn't like the female empowerment lectures fl kept forcing on me in the 2nd half of the show. She became this self righteous, know it all SJW who breaks into spontaneous, lenghty and frankly boring lectures which I simply skipped. I'm female and all for empowerment, but I don't need anyone shoving it down my throat, in my entertainment and in such an pompous, insufferable way too. I just want to watch a nice romance and action drama, where good wins and evil is punished. I still wonder why Fl became this totally unrelatable bore anytime she wasn't fighting in the 2nd half, which brings me to my hypothesis: are cddrama writers secretly misogynistic, which is why they ruin almost every fl? Or do they just not know how to write a likeable fl from start to finish? It's suspicious because they write such wonderful mls most of the time. Will come back when I'm done with the last 4 episodes. Btw, I'm also reading the novel and fl's even more insufferable in it. I think the writer's trying to convey a strong woman; sadly she just comes across as an obnoxious braggart. So perhaps they really just don't know how to write strong fls?
I've read many comments saying the ml is toxic and I disagree. He's honest about who he is, right from the start-hello, she saw him kissing another girl and still kissed him right after, only pulling back to complain about the other girl's lipstick and maybe saliva-how gross is that? Toxic would've been him hiding his wondering penis tendency, to get her in the sack. But he didn't even have to. She saw him for who he really was, still jumped in with unrealistic expectations of -oh, my golden vjay will change him -and when it predictably didn't, he became toxic. When a person tells you that this who I am, believe them. It only had a HE because it's a drama.
They should've stayed as mentor and mentee. There was absolutely no spark between them. Rather what they had was mutual admiration and that was lovely to see. The 2 kiss scenes were very painful to watch and I cringed on their behalf. Wasn't satisfied with how the office villains got off, but maybe I'm too bloodthirsty๐
I'm considering starting this. Why do you think the rating is so low?
There were a lot of deleted scenes, which made the drama hard to follow sometimes. I had to search youtube for them to make sense of the scenes. Also, almost all-and there was quite a number of them-the skinship scenes were cut, so it really brought down the sizzle of the romance even though they've got one of the best, natural feeling chemistry I've ever seen. I read somewhere that the story's a bit taboo for the Chinese authorities, what with her being a consort and he being a eunuch and all. Finally, personally, the characterization of the fl towards the end, took a huge set back. Yes, she was manipulative in the beginning, but she wasn't sly; she was only trying to survive. And she retained her innate goodness. However, when they got together, she suddenly started using his feelings against him for selfish reasons, with no regard whatsoever for his. It's like she went from this totally likeable badass great person, to a sly and totally selfish person, I almost couldn't recognise her. And even though she cried about using him, it still didn't negate the fact that she was being in a word a total biatch, so yeah, I fell out of love with her, toward the end and was filled with pity for him.
I miss her. Tyh, is my comfort drama. Ageist South koreans probably think she's too old for dramas, which just proves how narrow minded and wrong they are. This sidelining of true talent in favor of young, plastic looking girls who can't act, is part of the reason why kdramas have lost their lustre in the past few years. Such a pity.
Zhou Yutong acting is superb. But for ML. He is just handsome. But his acting is flat
Maybe because his character is a doormat here, but this actor is actually good. Try Go go squid for modern or Flourished Peonies for period. He does well in both and isn't a pushover in those dramas.
