I don't think so. This genre is Chinese and other countries have their own mythologies/fiction.
That's why I said manhua are fine too. The story doesn't have to be the same (I hope not), I just love the fantasy genre and devoted love between two strong characters ☺️

It definitely feels too long...while it's important, I'd have prefered having it shortened.
That too, but in general having two "alt versions" feels a bit different than just one. For example when MXL was in her "emotionless" state, her interactions with XXC still felt familiar to our main couple just with an added spice, dark ZM with MXL, I imagine, would feel similar to that too. But Pearl plus ZM feels too foreign, almost like watching a different show. Not to say they aren't great together but for this show we came to love MXL and XXC so that's who the audience want to see most.
After Untamed and LBFAD I was very sceptical about finding another drama that would draw me in as much but Moonlight Mystique managed to do just that! With its immersive worldbuilding, heartfelt stories, amazing casting and everlasting love it has become my favourite show, ever (fingers crossed it doesn't trip in the end).

Like koi has mentioned, he sort of turns and hits the area with his weapon to provoke the tree into taking him inside. He also came out pretty easily with Bai Shuo in tow. It's Bai Shou who made the whole thing dramatic. In actuality they never were in danger 😅

My rating of the drama? I'm loving it. Another drama that came clise was Love Between Fairy and Devil that I loved about an equal amount. My favourite aspects are ML, the vivid colir setting, OST and worldbuilding+storytelling. The drama keeps the pacing going and events that are happening are all interconnected without random side plots, which I like in a drama.
