Story and acting has problems
I watched this 5 yrs ago when it released and it was my first cdrama. At the time I was very impressed and loved it so much. Now that I’ve watched many CDramas specifically costume/wuxia ones I have to admit this one is not as great as I thought. There’s still positives though. The production and set design is incredible. The OST is one of my all time favorites it’s so beautiful. After rewatching some parts my problem with it is how they ended the story and the relationship/character developments throughout. Also some of the actor’s acting was not great. I loved Hu Yitian in this role visually and he really did a good job with the martial arts parts. His acting could’ve been better in the more emotional scenes. Unfortunately he had a tendency to be very expressionless in his early years. Tie Xinlan was a confusing character bc in the beginning she seemed badass then she became very damsel in distress. The actress’s acting skills was not great imo. I wish we could’ve seen more relationship development so we could see their love for each other instead of just dabs here and there. Some of the villains were very odd and unrealistic which made you not want to take the drama seriously. Something felt so off about the ending like they wanted to just get it over with and wrote the easiest way they could think of to end it. I think it’s watchable but don’t expect quality writing and acting
