The reason for the letters is anonymity. Remember, his father threatened to cut him off if he was in contact with Fah. The concept is that with the anonymous letters (and the unhinged delivery system), none of it can be traced back to Phoon by either Fah or Rit (Phoon's father). And while it seems like it was just introduced at random, the estranged (for want of a better word) relationship between Phoon and his father *does* come up again if the series continues to follow the book; given that the author is credited in the title sequence as having written the screenplay, it seems highly likely.

That's weird... I do know that IQ has issues with one of my browsers (I wanna say Opera? But it also might be Chrome - I honestly don't recall offhand), so I end up refreshing like fifty-eleven times before it actually does what it's supposed to do. Or I just switch browsers.

Not quite 2 minutes into episode 1, and the fact the actors appear very barely legal (if that) is weird for a BL in general; I also have "based on a true story" BL trust issues.
