Show not tell is what makes good cinema. It is suppose to be brutal, showing that you lost everything including the right to your body. Breaking someone both mentally and physically. It's uncomfortable and shows lack of control, there is nothing you can do. Pinned down while struggling and failing to get out. It's powerful and ain't nothing making you feel as worthless, lost and trapped, truly an "I lost/failed" moment.
Idk I remember my own country dying over the "Swedish" student in Tall Girl. It became a meme. And to be fair, yes it is a life achievement to be a master in your native language. It's called master in literature no? And compared to Chinese, Swedish is probably quite easy

Chi Cheng must tell Wei Wei about his mother. She had no right to ask Chi Cheng to not tell her son. It's just horrible to put someone in that type of situation and Wei should know and be allowed to grieve, accept and plan ahead. It's gonna be a train hitting him with no room to breath.
