Well, my source is random comments on XHS, so I’m not any better. But that Youku policy talk was also mentioned in the same comment where Taotie was mentioned, so they were supposedly forced to reduce the episode count.

And I think I saw somewhere that the budget was already about 300M yuan, so I guess that might also be the reason why we only got 29 episodes.
