It is weird to me that so many commenters on MDL have this bizarre hang-up about sex scenes. Exactly what is it…
Nothing wrong with the sex scenes but could've added a better story line for the time they use for the sex scenes.

The Frozen Flower had those sex scenes yet the story was superb so no complain, this one on the other hand..m

I saw lots of negative comments on Asianwiki. I Just finished watching this series and actually loved it. I wonder why it didn't get as much attention 🤔
On Empire of Lust Aug 25, 2021
After seeing Frozen Flowers, I am not shocked to see some bed scenes on this one. Some s*x scenes reminds me of Lust Caution, it felt like it was copied straight from LC.

Although I really don't understand the point of adding sx scenes to these kinds of dramas. If I am going to compare it to Frozen Flower - that one has a better story line, it was so good that I honestly wish they didn't include the sx scenes.
This one on the other hand, I didn't get any of that wow factor, although the acting of the ML was really good. The story fell flat for me... I didn't really enjoyed it nor did make me understood the characters and the story.

This is one of the best drama so far in 2019!! U didn't watched all of the episode so u won't know what the storyline…
I wouldn't have clicked fast forward in some scenes if it didn't bored me out.

I don't know why Xiao Zhan got the worst actor award on this movie? His acting here was great and much different than the other ones he acted on.

He always looks gay haha, but that’s not a bad thing at all XD
A I thought I was the only one haha. I actually wonder if he was...there is nothing wrong with that but just curious since it doesn't seem like an unacceptable thing in their country.

Watched it for the sake of Xiao Zhao, but it was actually good. Wouldn't say it's great since I had to skip and click fast forward in some scenes but it was intriguing enough.

The characters and the storyline. Things went really good near the end and the ending was such a cliffhanger it made me want to see season 2 asap!

Although I watched it cuz of Xiao Zhan, I must say that the lead actor really did a great job portraying his character. His acting is really good. Rare for me to see a male lead in a historical drama, who doesn't care about what he looked like on screen, everything about him was so natural - his looks and his acting, so it was really refreshing to see.

Title Oh! My Emperor Season 2 Spoiler
Honestly speaking, I liked season 1 better. If you are looking for a quality drama or a deep storyline - then you better skip this one. The story is all over the place, I thought I should watch it for the comedy or just to pass time but still, I ended up skipping a lot of scenes and clicking fast forward cuz of boring scenes.

It tried to make the story deep but failed. And then gave us a very cliche and cringy ending.

The only thing I can compliment about this drama is the acting of all cast. For a drama that I couldn't take seriously, they acted with all they can. Each of them gave their character it's own life.
I wasn't fond of the emperor at first but he grew on me later on, not just him but all of the cast.

Title The Untamed Spoiler
I often see this drama in reccomendations but refused to watch cuz I am not really into BL. But I got really confused on why is it so popular, so after few months I decided to watch.

Honestly speaking, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece unlike to what I often see from comments. The story has flaws and the actions wasn't that good. The first three episodes were confusing and boring so I thought I should just skip - since the only thing that made me curious about the story is WXX's past which they shown on the first episode. So I skipped and watched. I decided to watch the "special" series first since it's shorter. I must say that, the best part of this drama is only up to the last part of the long flashback - WXX's past story was so addicting. It made me hooked so I decided to watch the full series (50 episodes).
I kept rewatching those flashback episodes again and again and again. I even read the novel to see the difference.
However, I still can't rewatch the episodes that came after that flashback. I feel like the writing became less intriguin and the plot was all over the place. It was boring, cringy and cliche. I couldn't help but think that the rest of the story was made only for fan service - same with the novel.

I honestly wish that the series was only about WXX's past. Those 30 episodes of flashback was worthy enough for a 10 despite its flaws - maybe could even pass for a movie.
But nevertheless I really didn't expect to get hooked to the series.

The actors did a good job. I wouldn't say their acting is perfect but they really gave life to the characters. Xiao Zhan have moments where his acting was real good. Some moments it was just so-so and some moments it wasn't really good.
His acting at first as a funny WXX wasn't really that good. You can tell he was just really trying to act something he's not used to. When he's angry - you cannot see any anger in his eyes.
But during his siege or rebellion, his acting was at it's best. He was really good in showing WWX's hatred, frustrations, pain, regret and hopelessness.

WYB - was also good. I think his characer is also hard to portray cuz he doesn't have many lines and LZ doesn't show many emotions. If played by someone else, his character will definitely look boring and cringy to watch. Although I did get bored or lost interest on LZ later on, cuz WXX took all of my attention.

I also love that they gave more scenes for the Senior sister and the siblings relationship. So you can understand why WXX love them so much.
Some people hate Wen Qing's addition scenes but imo it worked a lot - it is hard to get attached to her in the novel cuz she only appear a few times so I couldn't really feel WWX's desvatation upon their death. But in the drama, they came more human to me, it let me get attached to her and her Wen sect. So seeing how kind they were, how normal they were compared to the evil Wens made it really painful seeing what happens to them.

I did enjoyed the 30 episodes of this drama, enough to get me hooked and watch it over and over again and glad that I gave it a try.

she died early cuz the fans dont want her character so.lol..
Explains why some of their scenes was romanticized. They probably also wanted to attract non-BL fans to watch the untamed. Some (like me) didn’t want to watch it cuz I’m not really interested in yaoi or bl stories. My friend convinced me and love it not bcoz of the romance but WWX backstory.

Many people dislike the show or the ending because Ying Luo didn't get to be with Fu Heng. On the contrary, I…
Same here. I always believe that the only person that really got into the emperors heart is Empress Fuca. What YL felt for the emperor is no different than the rest of his harem and she accepted it. She's not longing or wishing for him to fall for her. She's fine with the way they are.

She do love Fu Heng until the end but remember when Fu heng asked her to let go of her vengeance and all and he will wait for it - it was impossible, not in that life time, not while she's in forbidden city. It's impossible for them in that life, that's why she agreed to give him that love in their next life.

Empress Nara was right. But that's why she won that game. Because she wasn't aiming for his love. She wasn't fighting for his love.

I agree and disagree. I am amazed how they were able to still squeeze in romance, the female lead not only have…
I actually believe that her feelings for the emperor is mixed.
Everyone in his harem loves him, but they also love the power that comes with being favored by him. They really did love him, they wanted his attention, his affection and all. Even consort Gao loves him. But it wasn't always pure YL's feelings for the emperor is the same.

The same goes for the emperor who could favor anyone despite his liking to YL.

I think their relationship is what you'll call partnership. YL is someone who always lives in the present. When she became his consort, she knew she have to live with him for the rest of his life, thus she have to accept it and live with it.

I think interms of real love, the only woman who truly loved the emperor is Empress Fuca.

The emperor also loves her but their positions and responsibilities put a wall between them.
He also loved lady Gao as much as he loves YL.

As for YL, I believe that the one she truly loved is Fu Heng. But she has long accepted their fate. She accepted her new life, so what she has to do is to protect it.

Fu heng loves her until the end, even without asking for anything in return. When she agreed to protect him in their next life, it wasn't out of guilt or anything, she wouldn't agreed to it if that's not what she truly feel. If there is a next life, she will love him and protect him the same way he did - even if she may not get anything in return. For a calculative person like YL, I think that means a lot.

I honestly didn't like the love story part.
I've seem a lot of commenters arguing about which one did the emperor truly loved and which of the guys did YL truly loved.

The writers made it look like they are so in love with each other and happy but - then again why is it still confusing?

The emperor loves her - but one mistake, one rumor and he goes on punishing her. He loves her but still went on favoring other women, sleep with them.
They tried to make YL look so in love with him - but her actions and feelings shows no different with the rest of his harem.
All of them loves him, they feel especial being favored by him but at the same time , they wanted the goods that comes with it. So what's different with YL?

I guess that's why their feelings for each other became debatable.

Title Good Bye, My Princess Spoiler
They are never meant to be together, because what LCY did as GCW was very unforgivable. Although they did forget - it doesn't change history.

They were given another chance when they both forget their past. That was a new start for them. He wasn't the crown prince and his sole purpose was to avenge his mother and his clan. With his new life, he pretended to act differently as part of his revenge and make a new start in love with another woman. But still, the heart remembers, like a magnet, he was attracted to her even though he does not know why; he always felt something when he's around her.
The same goes for her, she was attracted to him. Curious about him and for whatever reasons - wanted to get close to him. And they did, she became closer to him than her supposedly fiance, and slowly, they were starting to fall for each other again.
And things happened, things that changed him and his view in life. But still, he kept falling for her and her for him. Then he became the Crown Prince - he was fine marrying her, he was happy because he's already in love with her. But she found out about what he did to his clan. She found out but she doesn't remember, so the pain and hatred weren't as deep. And so, as time goes by, she was able to forget and forgive. They started to get closer and became friends - but his vengeance is still there - along with the plan of knowing that she could be in danger and they could use her against him.
They already fell for each other, but the guilt was still there. She loves him but couldn't really show it. He loves her but couldn't show it in order to protect her.

And when he thought that he is near in achieving his vengeance and that he can finally show his love for her without any worries; the real problem has begun. The woman she loved was taken by someone else and he could lose her. What's going to happen to her when she's gone. There he realized how lonely and empty his life will be without her. He tried to fill that void using Sese but still, it wasn't the same.
The problem is, she didn't think he loved her and thought that he loved Sese the whole time, she didn't really want to leave but thinking that she will just block his happiness to love, she decided to leave.
When he saw her leaving, he lost his mind. All that's on his mind was to take her back. He cannot lose her.
And that's where the new problem started. SHE REMEMBERS - and when she did, the pain and betrayal that she felt back then also returned. She wasn't able to heal them before. But he still doesn't remember.

For him, everything was fine before she was kidnapped. They were sweet, she was happy and they are in love even without saying anything. So what happened while she was away? Suddenly, she hates him and doesn't even want to look at him and saying she loved someone else. That's why he kept asking, why does she hate him? If it's about Danchi she already found out about it before they got married but still everything went fine. So why?
But she couldn't tell him anything. Why? Because she knew, he doesn't remember. Even if she tells him, what would change? This problem was already dealt with before. And she knew how it feels to know something that you don't really remember - the feeling and it's effect is not as strong.

Now, this is where the prince made a mistake. He completely lost his mind and his calm. He let his jealous and pain get the best of him. He couldn't understand why she hates him. All he knew was that she has changed after being kidnapped. But instead of being calm about it, instead of being kind and understanding about it - he chooses to do what he believes will work - using force and his power in order to make sure she will stay. But that just made her realized how scary he truly is. Killing GJ and then eventually throwing Sese in the worst way possible made her realize how hopeless it is for him.
That the old him is gone. The man she loved is gone.

Only after his memory came back, did he realized everything. But it is way too late.
