I watched this right after Love Between Fairy and Devil, if you like this then you'll definetly like that
Me too. I like this more, despite its flaws, lots of boring and cringey scenes... this has become one of my favorite cdrama - probably because of the main couple. I also like the novel more.
I'm putting this drama on hold just because... I don't think I can endure it anymore. A bit disappointing because I really expect a lot from this drama since he is also the same director of The Untamed.
I have no problem with slow burn drama but this drama just.. doesn't have it. It lacks charm. .. it is lifeless.
Not even my love for Ren Jialun could keep me from getting bored.
I blame it mostly from the writing. The idea is good but it seems the writers does not know how to execute it properly. It may also be the production's fault?
There is no chemistry between the main couple. Some people say Dilraba and Ren Jialun doesn't have chemistry, but at least when they are together they look good, so their chemistry is 8/10 for me.
I think that may be the problem? I saw LQ in her other dramas and she also doesn't have chemistry with her costars (she at least had some with XZ in the wolf - but still just 5/5) And RJ is also a hit or miss when it comes to Chemistry. So when both of them paired up it's just zero chemistry. And no, I'm not talking about kissing scenes - he had strong chemistry with Seven Tan even though there were no kissing scenes. So even if there will be kiss scenes, I doubt there will be chemistry. It's just not there.
And I am not even fond of the "comedy" aspect.. maybe LQ is just not suited f that kind of role. She was good in Princess Agent, so I think those kind of roles suits her best.
It was just lifeless for me. Maybe on this one they should've used dubbed. If the story was and the phase was gonna be slow, then maybe they should've use dubbed.
Most of these problems were also caused by 2nd ML. He is no different than ML, actually worst.
JYH was so excited that she is going to be free after he became the new leader, but then he broke out this news that she is dying and even broke his deal with her - so she couldn't leave without feeling guilty - hence she had to betray Changyi.
He did that thinking "I will protect her" - but doesn't really have a way on how - so is he gonna experiment on her to find the cure"
She trusted him the second time but what he did? He betrayed her again and let Changyi escape- thinking he is protecting her but then did what? Just there running here and there so YH had to be cruel to Changyi and stabbed him.
His way of protecting her without solid plan just caused her more suffering.
Honestly speaking. I really don't understand the sympathy that 2nd ML got. I DID sympathized with him when I first…

I loved the second male lead more than the male leadhe loved her whole heartedly ,, he didn't imprison her or…

but i would've cried even more if ML's acting had shown more depth and complexity like that of Mark Chao in Eternal…
Actually it makes sense that his "angst" doesn't seem believable because it wasn't real from the start. It seems forced because Changyi was forcing himself to act that way towards her even though that wasn't his true nature.
But yes, his acting on here is definitely 50/50 Great as Innocent Changyi but the latter part, especially near the end... his acting was at it's worst.
//!!!MEAN GIRL COMMENT WARNING!!! read at your own risk ML is the typical xianxia main male character whom I am…
After seeing his in BW, I also noticed some of his expressions were very much like Changyi - like literally no difference at all.
The way he tilt his head while looking arrogant.
I found out he did this drama just few weeks after doing BW so I wonder if he still was in Changyi's shadow when shooting this drama or just his acting has regime.
Can't believe Ren Jialun did 3 dramas last year with just few weeks apart😅
I wonder of there will be kiss scenes? He did lots of em on Blue Whisper so that means he is okay with that now🤔
Although I'll be fine if there's none too but oh well.
I followed this because it's from the same director of the Untamed. From the spoiler you can already see the good direction but the production cuts... is really always messing them up.
I actually am not sure what people think of as "chemistry." Sometimes I see people saying "the chemistry is through…
I will never understand why some fans like you got to act so toxic.
Gong Jun can look feminine in his ancient costume, just like Chengyi can look so beautiful. Nothing wrong with that, yet you feel the need to be rude? Don't be a toxic fan

I really hope Dilraba will not use dub... especially this voice she usually use..
