The overly hyped girl boss trope was so extreme it nearly ruined this drama for me. I’m not in the mood to write an essay about it, but men, in general, are really trashed in this drama, which is supposedly meant to “mirror” other historical costume dramas where men have the upper hand but this drama takes it so far in the other direction, to the opposite extreme, and that is not mirroring.
Other than that, I liked the drama. Good acting. Nice ost.

This drama made me realize Liu Xue Yi is not that great of an actor. This is, at least, the third drama I’ve watched with him and meh. He’s decent-looking enough. I felt his acting suffocated the drama a little bit. I’ll probably still watch his dramas but I’m not sure why he’s so hyped. He’s like the male version of Dilraba— good-looking but lacks acting skills.
I’ve watched many dramas with Ju Jing Yi and her acting is great, she’s always perfect. Nothing to critique there.
Support roles romance was more interesting I think.
Aside from that, the story was good, kinda weird in some places, but good.

Last half was weird. Otherwise, I liked it and loved the cast. Ost was nice too.

I just finished watching this and I thought it was filmed recently but it’s actually filmed 5 years ago. The visual is amazing especially considering it’s 5 years old. The acting and plot is great. I loved the main leads for the most part.
I see people complaining about Liu Ran (played by Song Yi) and I don’t get why tbh. I absolutely adored her character and her part. It was the other female lead Wu Si Yue (played by Victoria Song) is who I didn’t care for. Her character Si Yue felt very weird to me, a little annoying, and the relationship dynamic with Gao Bing Zhu (actor Huang Xuan ) did not suit my taste very much. They felt awkward together. In my opinion very little chemistry if any at all between these two.
This is the first time I’ve seen Huang Xuan acting and I thought he was amazing and very handsome. I loved his character Gao Bing Zhu, but I wish they chose someone different for him as a love interest, or maybe a different actress would’ve made it better.

The chemistry between Liu Ran and Bali Hong Yi (actor Wang Yi Bo) was a lot better and way more enjoyable and believable. This couple was really adorable. I really loved Hong Yi and this is also the first time I’ve seen Wang Yi Bo acting , I think he’s super cute and awesome actor.

But this is not really a romance anyways , it’s an action which is what I look for more than anything. Romance alone is not really that interesting to me. I like to see believable acting, violence with blood, and especially good fighting choreography and this was really good.
The fighting choreography in Zhao Zhen Adventures is better though if you wanna see awesome fight scenes.

I love this guy. Zhang Wan Yi. He’s so awesome for any type of drama. Partener to any woman he is a perfect man. Always concerning about his lady. Always gentleman. Perfect guy. I like him so much. Expression perfect. The best Chinese drama man for every role. I admire him and adore him. So cute, and so expressive , this man is so handsome.if I can choose a husband it would be him , this one - this man.

She is so beautiful. But I’m still waiting to see some good acting skills. She has made good progress though. Maybe someday I’ll be a fan but for now I’m just waiting for her to grow still. She’s so beautiful

Agree. That’s my first idea too. The Emperor is always associated with dragon. So it doesn’t make sense for dragon to be a demon.

I’ve watched it more than half dozen times.I LOVE this drama. And Baize is one of my favorites. But I realized when ShiGuang and WiYi was hit with Purple Lightening both was still infected with Jiu Ying. So now it makes sense why. But yea I did have to rewatched MANY times to understand many things. I rewatched so many times felt like I was Lu Wuyi, reliving everything over and over.
Such a great drama! Even after rewatching Sony time I still have questions! And I plan to keep rewatching.
Seriously it’s such an amazing drama. I can’t get over it!

Ohh. I didn’t know this info. It’s a good point to keep in mind I suppose , although I’m not sure it can completely explain what happened in between first half and ending. It does look like some things were cut in weird places though. Maybe this drama had more than a couple difficulties.

It was alright. Actors are great. Costumes are okay. The story isn’t bad. The first half was really good and I liked the ending but the part between first half and ending was kinda weirdly paced.
And a lot of time used for characters just staring at other characters, staring at each other and then more staring. I’d say this is more of a drama for kids or very young adults. It’s cute and easy to follow.

…. And to be completely honest I accidentally stumbled upon Veil of Shadows while I was in the middle of watching this drama (probably popped up on my algorithm for being another JJY fantasy). And I paused this drama to watch VoS. and now I can’t help but to compare them which I know is not fair & impossible cuz VoS takes the cake by far and blows every other drama entirely out of the water. But after watching VoS several times I’m came back to finish watching Eternal Fragrance and it was kinda difficult to finish watching it til the end cuz I felt bored quite a bit. I don’t think that’s just cuz VoS being so good it ruined every other drama for me now though, I think something got messed up in Eternal Fragrance by the production team or the writers or something. There’s a disconnect between first half and second half. But again, I liked the ending.

Im disappointed too with current US everything… and I’m not a big fan of my own country tbh…. And of course I hate war, and I want peace with every nation & I respect every religion. Regardless of animosity & i cannot promise we’d agree on everything, but if you want or need someone to talk to please reach out to me.

Yeah. GMP is not an “easy” watch. Beware. If you’ve never experienced heartbreak before then you’ll never get through GMP. Some dramas can only be sustained by those who have already experienced heartbreak and catastrophe...

GMP is a true *DRAMA* . If you want a good *drama* Goodbye My Princess is where it’s at.
Same as VoS. It’s a good drama. VoS is not an “easy” watch either. VoS is very advanced in terms of Cdrama.
