No the things they are depicting belong to that era. In the drama it says they are in early 19th century meaning 1800's.

Robinson Crusoe was published in early 18th century. People already had guns at that time.

I think you are getting confused by their costumes. Koreans wore the same kind of dresses throughout the joseon period.

Ok this is good and definitely something new in the field of historical dramas.

Felt chills during the last 5 mins. The dialogues are superb and the acting is on point.
The romance seems a bit misplaced but when it's there it's equally good. After all life is not all about work.

First two episodes were really good. I hope this momentum continues.

incredible movie. watched it at university. the film club had a thriller Friday going on. there were no whispers, no mobile screens lighting up, nobody leaving for the washroom. the person sitting beside didnt even touch his popcorn after the first 5 mins of the movie,

thats how intense this was.

honestly, to get chugakusei nikki and hajikoi back to back with both being extremely good in quality feels like I have used all my jdrama luck for this year. one can only hope for more dramas like these. (and i don't mean student x teacher specifically. both of these dramas were excellent romance jdramas which has been rare for a while now in the jdrama scene. so it feels good to have them back.)

no thats just an unrequited love. also marriage between cousins is legal in japan and is mostly done in rich noble families. its uncommon in the general population though.

no character is bad nor unnecessary in this drama. every character contributes something or the other to make this show a delight. I really wish the manga was translated into English because it seems the manga must be excellent as the drama is nothing short of it.
