Hopefully kingdom will become a series of movies because there is just so much content. Also I won't be surprised if it tops the box office next year

Another good episode. The main conflict is beginning. Both the male and second male lead are getting ready for the showdown.

also, the female lead is exactly how she is in the manga. man, she is gorgeous. she was in the line messaging cm as well for Christmas which is a pretty big deal in the cm world.

Lee Jong Suk never goes wrong with the dramas he chooses. (Well except for dr. stranger but the beginning was awesome so I can't fault him for picking it.)

Hope for an awesome Noona romance as well as good workplace drama vibes from this one.

Yeah i'm one of the frustrated fans...haha. I realized i only watched 18 dramas this year, and just managed to…
that complicates matters. if you can't get behind the romance in chugakusei nikki, you may feel unsatisfied but if you somehow get convinced of the love in the show, believe me, this will be an enjoyable experience.

I think todome no kiss and unnatural are good enough. Both Yamaken and Ishihara Satomi had two dramas this year but the latter dramas didnt get as much love as the one which aired before. I think jdrama fanbase is much more mature in rating a drama than kdrama fanbase. (except when it comes to arashi.)

people who were complaining about chemistry didn't realize that the screenwriter made it that way so that their chemistry develops as their relationship progresses further. Now I can say that their chemistry is completely on point and now they are in full couple mode.

honestly, ep 10 was so beautiful. Their banter makes me smile. Also the ending. Pure Bliss. Everyone who has not dropped this show has been rewarded plenty. Gonna rewatch that scene a million times now.

Song hye kyo in the last few episodes has been so good. She has really improved her acting by a lot. I could really feel the emotions cha soo hyun felt when she cried.

Seriously give these three shows a chance. They may sound cliche but each one of them had something special that made people watch it and vote for it.

Todome no kiss was seriously good. The story was really engaging and kept you on wanting more. If I could compare it to a similar show, I would do it with Steins Gate the anime. It's amusing how Yamaken uses the powers of the kissing girl to turn situations around and become a sort of an antihero.

Unnatural was one of my favorites from this year. Shows of this genre have been done a lot but there was something that was fresh and different from the rest about this one.

Enough has been said about Chugakusei Nikki already. Obviously, there was a big controversy around it but that actually made people avoid it in the beginning. It was only after the first few episodes when people started raving about it here on mdl and in Japan that people gave it a chance. And from the results above as of now, a lot of people actually liked it. Student X teacher theme is really popular in manga and anime but people don't really like watching it in real life especially in dramas. Despite this, the love this show got is enormous. And it's actually beating Yamaken who is the most popular Jdrama actor on mdl. I think this really says a lot about how good the show really is. (We all know what results we were expecting. There was no possible way any other show however good it may have been could have possibly beaten Todome no Kiss just like two years ago. However, Chugakusei Nikki has been a real surprise. Obviously, I still expect todome no kiss to come on top in two weeks.)

Ok I was not expecting this. Chugakusei is leading in so many categories.
It kind of deserves the love it is getting.
But there is still a lot of time left in which I expect todome no kiss to catch up and pass Chugakusei Nikki because it can't possibly keep up with all yamaken fans.(I am one of them so I know that there is a lot of us.)

However if chugakusei does win some of the categories like romance, couple, upcoming actor and supporting actress I will be happy.

Also no matter what anyone says prologue by uru is the best ost hands down. Lemon by yonezu kenshi is a very good song but prologue had a massive impact on chugakusei Nikki which I don't think any other songs had on their own dramas.

One drama I would have liked in the drama of the year category would be anone instead of good doctor. Again yamaken fans are to blame here but nothing can be done now. However the other dramas on the list deserve their place.

The makers of this poll haven't thought through the choices properly (or are clearly not familiar with the J-drama…
The people nominated their own favorites in the comments section few weeks back.

As far as I remember shoplifters, Ando Sakura, Ishihara satomi had decent amount of votes but not enough to get into top 5.

People were simply not proactive enough to get their choices in time.

Shoplifters was really good. I voted for it in the nomination. It's a shame.

Seriously watch it. It's good. I am not surprised it's getting a lot of votes here. Hamabe Minami was brilliant…
Honestly it's less about students and gambling. It's more about mind games and trickery with over the top characters.
I just gave it a go because it was on Netflix. And Netflix never goes wrong with the Japanese dramas it produces.

Seriously watch it. It's good. I am not surprised it's getting a lot of votes here.
Hamabe Minami was brilliant as Jabami.
Actually so many people watched it on Netflix that it's getting a movie and a season 2 as well

Akira likes hijiri for just who she is. With shotaro hijiri believes that she needs to better herself to deserve…
I completely get where you are coming from. Even with me in some shows however good they may be if I can't get behind the romance something stops me from completely liking the drama.

Luckily in this one I was captivated by the romance from the get go. And you really need to be on their side especially in cases of forbidden romance because there will always be a moral police inside to remind us that this is wrong in the real world.

As for true love everyone has their own interpretation to it. I believe akira's love for hijiri started as a crush. However in ep1 after all the students were bullying her to quit the school as she is going to get married anyways, but the way she stood up for herself made him completely fall in love with her. Obviously this is only my interpretation. Somebody else can see it differently.

As for Hijiri I think it started in the car when Akira recited the poem which she taught in the class. She was delighted that someone actually listened to her and was able to understand the meaning she wanted to convey through the poem. She was happy with the fact that she was able to reach the heart of a student and it was her first time as well. You can ask any teacher what is their happiest moment in their careers. Most of them will reply that it is when even one student listens and understands what the teacher is trying to say. All of this made Akira keep on popping up in her mind.

Their love builds up through small encounters but very important encounters for both of them. As for whether their love is sustainable or not everyone has their own thoughts about it. There are many obstacles stopping them but as it is said with each obstacle you pass the love you develop only gets stronger and stronger.
