Akira likes hijiri for just who she is. With shotaro hijiri believes that she needs to better herself to deserve him but when she sees Akira liking her for how she is right now her heart wavers. At ep 3 hijiri is just curious about Akira but the feelings for him are developing somewhere deep inside which she acknowledges that she has to stop at the end of ep3.

A - both encounter and memories of Alhambra started at a similar time on the same network. While one features a older woman/younger man couple which makes a lot of people uncomfortable the other features a more traditional older man/younger woman couple. Obviously that's not the main reason. But it's there in the subconscious part of the brain. Also one is a simple melodrama with a lot deep meaning behind the dialogues and mannerisms of the characters, the other is a fantasy thriller which has something going on every moment with more of the life is at stake feeling pumping adrenaline.

B - This is the first role for song Hye kyo the female lead after her marriage. The male lead park Bo gum is like a brother to her husband in real life. Some people can't separate reel from real life I guess. Also the whole older woman/younger man thing is out of norm with the female lead being in a very high position of power.

C - the plot has been seen many times before. Rather I would say a lot of cliches are brought up in the earlier episodes but the resolution to those cliches are unpredictable and not how you would expect the directionthe show would go in. The characters are completely different from something in the rain. They are much more reserved and secure about themselves. The obstacles they face are different. Give it a go. You may like it.

There is some in-depth analysis about scenes from the show which blew my mind.

The screenwriter has worked really hard to put in references from various fairytales, classics and old movies which if you catch on to will really make you realise how good this show really is.

Also this drama has been getting a lot of positive reactions in Korea after the initial hate died down after the first few episodes. (The reason is that the main female is like the Angelina Jolie of South Korea while her husband is the Brad Pitt. And this is her first role after marriage that also with a younger man. You can expect the reactions.)

Anyways the drama has been heavily praised by critics along with the acting of both leads. You should really give it a go.

All I can say is right now I feel so vulnerable inside. I feel so empty now that it's all over. Like I'm just laying down on my bed doing nothing but just savouring this moment.

I know I have just finished a masterpiece that I'll remember for the rest of my life.

ep8 was an emotional episode. her tears when she was looking through the camera almost made me cry. the acting of both song hye kyo and park bo gum is spot on. they have totally embodied their characters and their yearning for each other is being portrayed beautifully.

i understand now why both of them chose encounter to be their comeback project. thankfully unlike here in mdl, encounter is getting rave reviews from critics as well as viewers in korea because this show deserves it.

i am actually surprised to see that this drama made a mark on so many's hearts like mine. fan following for this drama reached new heights for ep 11. i mean it was trending on twitter worldwide for two whole hours and the ratings for the final episode almost reached 10 while the first ep was just 6.

its really an amazing feeling when you start liking something at the start but majority of the people are against it but slowly and slowly the majority becomes the minority and people who like the same thing as you start voicing their opinions as well. for the first time in my life i felt this groupy feeling. its hard to describe but i felt happy.

your summaries for few of the episodes really made me understand the characters of the drama better. it helped me develop a new insight into them. thats the beauty of mdl and other sites for asian dramas.

i am glad you enjoyed the drama as well and now that it has become a favorite for both of us I wonder if another show will have the same magic as chugakusei nikki but lets hope we get more of this

okay so the angst period is starting but that will only make the feelings for each other stronger and the ending sweeter.

so ill be skipping the live airing and since I don't have the confidence to avoid spoilers I won't be visiting this page till I watch ep 11 with subs.

Anyways I had a blast for the last 3 months on this page. Luckily so many people liked the same thing I liked. It is a good feeling. I know I sound cringey af but I liked sharing and reading comments with you guys. I don't know if we will get so excited over a drama together again but let's hope. I am already feeling empty knowing that all of this going to end today. The next two months are going to be hard. All of you please do come back to this page after subs for ep 11 get released. I would really like to hear your thoughts about everything.

About this drama, regardless of how it ends today, it is going to be my all time favorite. I mean I love it so much that I actually wrote an article over it in MDL while my exams were still going on. But it definitely improved my English writing skills. Following Akira and Hijiri's journey made me feel so many emotions that are hard to describe. Last time I was like this was when I watched an anime called Clannad. (People who have watched it know what I am talking about.) I will be forever thankful for this drama. Like if anybody asks what was the most memorable thing in 2018 after 1,5,10, 20, 30 years from now or even when I am about to die, my answer would be Chugakusei Nikk. I know most of you will be thinking 'Really???'. But I would still gladly answer 'Yes!!!'

I will be voting for Chugakusei Nikki in most of the categories for this year's MDL poll of the year. It will be a miracle if it wins anything though. Just because of the sheer popularity of the stars in its competition like Kento in Todome no kiss, Ishihara Satomi in Unnatural, Ayase Haruka in Stepmother and Daughter's Blues. Suda Masaki in Dele and of course Tanaka Kei in Ossan's Love. All of them are big stars and their dramas were good too but none of them made an impact on me as Chugakusei Nikki did and for that reason alone I will vote for Chugakusei Nikki. All I can do is hope for a miracle. because this drama deserves it.

I will come back when aoihachi releases subs for ep 11 so I will be praying for subs every day.
My mom prayed for Akira and Hijiri as well in her morning prayers. Btw I just realized that I will have to stop talking to my mom and sis as well since they will probably watch the raws. So many obstacles.

That's going to be very unlikely since we have Kento this year with two dramas. He is likely to win all the categories.

Arimura kasumi is one of the actresses who does tend to have a lot of divided opinions on her. I think her rapid rise to popularity could very well be one of the reasons for this similar to Yamazaki Kento.

But I have always thought of her as a talented actress. She tends to gravitate towards unsafe roles which have resulted in lower ratings for some of her dramas but the contents of those dramas have usually been good.

I don't think many actresses in the same popularity bracket as her would have picked the role of Hijiri.
