According to several Threads posts, Julalumpa (the author) started out writing fanfics on Joylada. She couldn't monetize her works there, so she moved it to readAwrite, where she locked everything, so you'd need to pay to read it. It sparked a controversy because fans accused her of profiting off of GMMTV actors (including PPW) without permission. She promised she'd no longer monetize her works, but as it turned out, she never stopped doing that. When confronted, she said CPs like JD and PPW wouldn't have become famous if it weren't for her published works.

Apparently, this is only the tip of the iceberg. She did a whole lot more, but the online feedback is, you might want to hold off on buying her novels.

That's what the Chinese fans are speculating, but no, "Falling" isn't published on meb or readwrite. The unfinished work is still on AO3 and Lofter (I think).

Of course, right now, whether or not MaiLeDiDiDi and Julalumpa are the same person is mostly speculations on Tiktok and X. However, it has been 5 years, so I wouldn't be surprised if s/he has gone on to another platform, one where the CCP's crackdown on BL/Gl writers couldn't reach them.

However, this isn't the only thing the author is being accused of. Apparently, even Thai fans are calling out the author on plagiarism allegations, controversial comments she made about PPW, and problematic behavior as an author. I can only say that GMMTV has screwed up big time on this one.

Even if it's not her, plagiarism is a pretty serious offense.

I don't like the Chinese fans, but this time, they're not entirely off the mark here. The author of this series is apparently a problematic one. She's already facing plagiarism allegations when GMMTV picked up her series. Also, rumor has it that she was the author that triggered the 227 controversy, which resulted in AO3 being banned in China. If that was the case, then her action back then nearly destroyed two actors' careers. So, I can understand why Chinese fans would be upset. Imagine destroying a platform of writers and forcing them to look for another site to post their works (as a writer myself, I can tell you that is not an easy task), then going to Meb and writing under a new pen name like nothing ever happened.

I've read the novel, too. The atmosphere only becomes abit lighter after they got together, but not before. They also changed Dunk's character a little. Hopefully, the director didn't botch the series (or the novel).

Um, no. After all, it's possible to make a trailer without ruining the mood and still not give anything away. They were able to do with Hide n' Sis. But this? It's like The Heart Killers 2.0 but without FirstKhaotung.

Same. I don't know what GMMTV is thinking. They did the same thing with Melody of Secrets. They took out all the dark/mysterious vibe and replaced with humor and romance. Like, do they think we couldn't tell it's BL or something?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that the show will premiere next month, but that promotional poster is a joke. GMMTV really needs a new arts department. I mean, my teenage niece can do better than this crappy... whatever this is.

10 episodes is simply not enough for this fast-paced, action-packed and drama-filled series.

I think that's a good thing. 8 episodes mean the pace will be faster. At least they won't drag out the storyline.

It's worth checking out for sure. While it's too early to tell if the plot is good, the acting is definitely top-notch, especially Pat.
