Updated After Season 2
Why did I watch season 2 after watching season 1? I think I was hoping they would have taken criticism from this season and made it better. They didn't. Season 1 can be summed up in 1 word. Kissing. That's the only plot there is at all. Jealousy for no reason, pseudo s&m, it was all just really really bad.Was this review helpful to you?
It's really my fault
I think the only series I've seen that is worse than Tide of Love Season 2, is Tide of Love Season 1. There are so many series that could use a second season... and somehow this one got the go ahead? Storyline is bad, acting is bad, chemistry is bad, set locations are bad, my beer now tastes... bad... you get what I'm saying. This was so unnecessary. But I did it to myself by watching it in the first place knowing how bad season 1 was.Was this review helpful to you?
Not Bad
I like the thriller BL genre a lot, and this one delivered in many areas. We have our anti-hero, our twist, and the chemistry between the leads is not bad. I did think it was odd that our naive lead would be THAT naive and really not be able to recognize differences he easily should have, but I won't give too much away for those who haven't seen it yet. It's worth a watch, but it's not making my top 10 list for this year. Was this review helpful to you?
Inception-esque
I have seen a lot of bad series defended lately as "art". This one actually deserves that title. The series focuses on two actors filming another series and falling into lust/love along the way. We truly see more of the second series than we do Deep In, but I'm certain it's intentionally to keep you drawn in the way the actors find themselves drawn in. The chemistry between the two leads is not perfection, but I'm not upset about it either. The story itself moves so well that I have to look and see if the glasses are on or off to know which series we're supposed to be in at the moment. That might sound like a negative comment, but I assure you it is not. Looking forward to see how they wrap this one up.Was this review helpful to you?
Yesss!
Korean BLs are so hit or miss and I am thrilled to say that this one is a hit. There is a strong storyline, creative writing, and the actors are not only believable in their line delivery, but there are no dead fish lips. With my ADHD I often times watch series as background noise while I'm doing other things, but I knew this one was something special when I found myself stopping what I was doing to rewind and focus on what I was watching. Even without the romance, this is a good series that really keeps you engaged. Was this review helpful to you?
The Devil is Beautiful
Red flags and toxic traits run amuck in this series, but since that's the whole point, we are tuning in for it. It's Jane v. Jane in a battle of wills and I think we're all hoping for a sympathy for the Devil redemption arc, but we'll see. So far I'm 3 episodes in and the writing is keeping me locked in with all the little twisted details. Was this review helpful to you?
The Boys Are Back
First episode and I already know I'm going to love all 4 episodes every bit as much as I loved the original series. All the boys are back and it is the exact same over the top cheesy fun as the last time. I appreciate more of Rome/Mok and the growth from Perth's character as well. This is going to be a fun ride for sure! Was this review helpful to you?
This cast!
For this being Min and Toptap's first series at all (as Mains) let alone together, the chemistry between these two is phenomenal. Excellent job done by the casting director. And the rest of the cast is just as good. Shogun was great as the sexy playboy type in Deep Night, and yet I am totally buying him as the sweet and innocent Sky here. Khunnote is a great supporting actor, but I think he must be better known for his music because I don't remember him having any main roles before and other than Dare You to Death, I don't know that I've seen him in anything. Fuaiz playing the bad guy seems like the next logical step after his character in 4Minutes. Truly I am impressed by this series so far.Was this review helpful to you?
Wait Just a Minute
Update after episode 3. I am still giving it a 3 star rating right now simply because there is more of a plot, more cast, and more scenery than Tide of Love seasons 1 and 2. But my head hurts. This is not good by any stretch of the imagination. Strongberry/SEEK has got to let actors with ANY ability take the lead roles. I'm going to keep watching because I'm a glutton for punishment, but sheesh this is bad.Was this review helpful to you?
Take it for what it is
We all knew going in that this was going to be a BoatOat guilty pleasure BL with a whatsapp novel feel to it. It's subgenre malepreg fanfic at it's finest. If you go in expecting more than you should, you may be disappointed. But if you go in knowing exactly what it is and why you are watching it, you're going to love it. Plainly put, we are all looking forward to that over the top naughtiness we came to love in My Stubborn while getting our Alpha/Omega itch scratched as well. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride that is to come. Was this review helpful to you?
