That is exactly what I'm talking about! I love Victor Ma's version of Sang Yan in THL. He is the quirky, natural, funny version of Sang Yan. However I think screen writers changed their mind and wanted to write character a little bit love-wounded and distant and that's exactly BJT can give. That's why TFF is separate drama for me. If they gave this drama to us as a brand new drama I wouldn't mind and I didn't find unfair to Victor Ma.

What I mean is that I want the casting team hire second leads with the thought of next one if they wanna continue the show. Because if you love the character because of the certain actor's performance in the first one and then when the selected one comes and gives totally different performance it feels like different and unrelated character like BJT. Of course they wanna make popular and record breaker show and hire the top runner but it becomes unfair to another talented one just because he or she doesn't suit their beauty and popularity standards. This industry is revolving always the same people because of their fans. Always have and always will. They don't even try to give a chance to less popular but more talented one a chance. I don't talk about Lumi and Will by the way, I don't like their chem and they might not be casted in the first place but they'd put efforts into their performances and set their hopes up after the show becomes very successful. Now with one phone call, they became replaced. If the casting have to be change then they could give us the leads in the first one. It doesn't have to be 4 top paids because even the director of The Early Spring herself said that they didn't have the budget to dress leads with designer's clothes but there a lot of C-drama stars -even in some of the short C-dramas- expecting recognition for their exquisite talent who are valued to be leads. But no. I'm sure they will select top paid leads again for the profit while changing the existed ones.

I think not qualifications but popularity coming from appearance decides it since there are a lot of actors who act with always the same style, giving same blank expression and that's because they are good looking immediately they become front runner. The same thing applies for actresses. Btw I watched First Frost as a different and unrelated show from Hidden Love since even characters have different natures from the first one. I just gave an current example for this kind of situation.

Yeah for sure like First Frost. I really don't like it though when they (director or producer or whoever) want to exchange existing actors for more popular ones even though that certain actors've put so much effort to introduce us into the character's world. Yeah it's time for the main couple to shine in the first one but it's unfair to those second leads when they're not preferred for the second. But nothing is fair in this industry for some so producers think themselves and they paid the main couple then the main couple'll pay the other main couple in next one.

I really hope that you'll be right. And also totally agreed on Jing Boran returning as Luan Nian but they aren't signed up for now for the second season. If they'll adapt the other novel called Chatty Lady focusing on Lumi and Will, I think they only appear as a married with one like cameo. But of course fingers crossed for your anonymous tip
About the NEW SEASON, I think it would be better if we get a new start. I know they did a great job -btw special applause to Jing Boran for portraying an opposite character from his own very convincingly again like his other dramas-. Their chemistry is also harmonious. However, that story is completed imo whether they have a child, whether they climb the steps of success together their fire is now stabilized and their love is unbreakable. This new drama needs new fire, new passion, new vibe and new love. Maybe Flora and Luke will come to visit us in the new drama as colleague cameo. I think it's gonna be like Hidden Love and First Frost. Even they were like Hobbit and Lord of the Ring, they still prefer new cast. You've put into exact words that I've been thinking about when people say their love is toxic and I really wondering about what they are gonna think if they would read the novel since the drama is just a mild version of the novel. They are not friends with benefits in the drama and their affection is not bond to only fridays so we can feel their affection and caring for each other every single time. They are portrayed as a couple in disguise for the work ethic. They started the relationship with physical attraction okay but their love is planted so deep that they didn't even realize. Finally two very different worlds collide by mutual consent of love, caring, sharing, labor, effort and sacrifice then new planet of their own is formed. Isn't that what the love about?
Actually it came out at such a time that we were all surprised and captivated by his aura. If I may speak for myself I was so bored of watching the exact same plot, same mimics, same voice emphasis, same reactions in the Male-Female dramas. Idk whether I'd miss my bad boy liking phase or it felt new and guilty pleasure to my taste, I was hooked too. I'm not fond of Ziyu but Tian was refreshing red flag and this was one of the few good among Chinese BL series. Let me remind you Chinese BL dramas are very very bad.

It had 32 episodes right? I kinda remember this page cited it as 32 episodes. If that is the case, 8 episodes drastically change the essence and deepness of the show.
