Ok I want to ask a simple question just from DOTS lovers, would you ever rated another drama by 1 point just because…
Sadly, there are people who said they dislike the drama very very much, that it's boring and ridiculous and what not, but they watch until the end, claiming the drama makes them suffer and they must give very low rating. I guess this is kind of masochistic.

You don't have to react to BS like that. There may be some childish people here, but the 1 over there can't all come from us. Similarly, not all the 1 we got are from them. Look here I am a DOTS lover, so to say, and I did not enjoy even a minute of Signal because I am tired to death of the corruption theme, the fantasy is not well explained for me and there's nothing I learn from the drama. But I admit Signal is still a good drama, and I even believe it's better than DOTS. Hence, I gave Signal a 9 and DOTS a 10 (20% of my rating comes from feelings and lessons learned). I believe there are others like me.
And one more thing, haters are everywhere, no one can generalize it as if haters are fans of only one or two newly famous dramas. Look at how many 1s Nirvana in Fire suddenly receives.
Everyone keeps telling that this drama is cliched, but that's not true at all. I loved how Descendants of The…
They sorta broke up once after Mo Yeon was saved, for like 10 minutes movie-time. That was the only moment I hate about this drama. I enjoyed the rest :)

@jinja b: What is the plot of your life? Can we have a drama that's just going chronologically through THE STORY of two people falling in love, understand one another and accepting one another? There are different "arcs," different "enemies" to defeat. I understand you don't like this kind of story telling. But it does not mean there is no value to the story and you have put negative comments everywhere. And by value, I mean the positive feelings it gives to people, the lessons learned (in my case), etc. Not just the monetary value like you said.

DOTS made me think seriously about what it means to be a citizen of my country and what it means to be patriotic. It also reminds me of how wonderful soldiers and doctors are and how much they sacrifice even during peaceful time. Because I don't live among them, I forget those important things. As for Heirs (and My Lovely Girl), I actually have to thank its existence. I finished the entire show and I've been telling myself "C'mon, you survive "Heir" in its entirety, there isn't anything in life you can't do."

After Heirs, I thought the next time I heard the name Kim Eun Sook, I'd just give up on Korean Dramas entirely. I personally dislike all her previous work, including Secret Garden, which was decent, but I just cannot like it because I don't get anything out of the drama. This one is a huge difference. I'm glad I give her a chance.

- Characters valued their ideologies and love/personal feelings at arguably the same level. No such thing as "I'll throw away my belief for my man" or "damn ideology I need my girl"
- There was little corruption problem or "the higher-up" ruining dozens of lives with selfish decisions like normal crime dramas, although this one also deals with crimes
- It actually successfully integrate romance and patriotism in a very reasonable way
- There are actually lessons learned from the drama, which in my opinion, note, my opinion, is more valuable than having a heavy thick plot full of twists and turns.
- Ah, no amnesia (Thank god!)
- The list goes on more...
The rating is 33%. No big deal. The drama is showing me what I would like to see. For one moment I thought it lost me, but then it came back with all the meanings and lessons that I want to learn. It's not just a love story for me. Watching this in a place far away from my home country, I was made to think about the meaning of a country, a nation, protecting a country, what patriotism is and what it means to be the citizen of a country. The drama has lots of flaws for sure, but the humanity behind shines through brightly for me :)
I just want to say that people have different tastes. If you don't enjoy the drama, say you don't like it. Until…
Well I believe it's OK to say you don't understand why the drama is so popular or you think it doesn't deserve so much excitement. But if you're talking abour overrated or underrated as of MDL's rating then it's more for the quality of the drama, which you cannot judge fairly before the end.
Watching the ending of ep 8 and I was like "OK so the car scene is actually useful." Haha that was funny. As much as I no longer expect what I want to see in this drama, it still makes me smile, which is good enough.
Every few months I'd be thinking "There are no OK Korean dramas now. Let's watch Healer again." And that, ladies and gentlemen, brings me to rewatch this drama about 15 times. And I'm rewatching now.
I gave it 4 episodes just because I like to give every show a fair shot but holy shit this is boring. There is…
The story of Signal is very good but all the detective dramas from Korea have that same theme of corruption and then there's that one guy that rises above the power to remedy everything. The drama is also not to my value either since I'm someone who is against changing the past. But again, Signal's story and everything else is good so I gotta be fair. And this is not a place to talk about Signal.
I just want to give an answer to your question on how some people may find DOTS good and compelling. And I usually rate a drama at its start (hence you see I rated DOTS 10) and change the rating when the drama ends (if the story continues to be this lame you'll see 8 being my most generous feedback). Haha :D
(How long will it take us to have a drama to talk about? When this one is the best as of now)
