Mama MiaThe way CW threw EK in the bed.Hot Hot HotI feel like I’m watching an American Movie (“Unfaithful)…
Yes Cheating should never be tolerated. But this is just a drama. We are allowed to root for whoever we want to root for. I have rooted for couples having affairs before(In the Mood for Love, Bridges of Madison County). You are right EK and CW's chemistry is on fire. While CW and BD's sparks are gone
Makes me even think. What if CW chose to marry EK instead of BD. Would both of them end up being happy?
One of the Best Scenes of Episode 10(watch with caution)Apparently, this scene got the highest rating per minute…
Mama Mia The way CW threw EK in the bed. Hot Hot Hot I feel like I’m watching an American Movie (“Unfaithful) with that Love Scene. But it was tasteful done for the conservative korean audience Good this was on cable Otherwise, it would have gotten an R-18 rating if it was on KBS.
Despite the episode getting more and more tensed, I still loved a few scenes in Episode 9.- EK's Mom. Her funny…
And so EK's evil plans towards BD her Family will keep continuing and nothing will stop her. She even told her Uncle "She is not really the nice EK everyone think she is and she is tired being nice" It must something more than her failed relationship with TG that made her snapped. Though I don't expect her to be happy but I hope her plans will not make her life more miserable in the end.
Despite the episode getting more and more tensed, I still loved a few scenes in Episode 9. - EK's Mom. Her funny conversation with her Family and CW's family. Actress Lee Bo Hee is hilarious - CW's Father and EK's Dad following NC. Their funny conversation in the cab. - EK's Uncle and EK's conversation about how EK should find a good guy because she deserves it. The actor playing EK's Uncle, Choi Dae Chul is also hilarious - NC and ES. I might be the minority here but I am actually rooting for ES and NC. NC has never been this happy and he truly deserves to be happy. I am starting to be fan of Jung Yoo Min. She carries out the story of the May-December love affair too well without being cringey. I hope her career takes off after this (like Han So Hee's did after TWOTM) as she is a great actress not to mention also beautiful. They need to give her Lead Roles.
And I must say, I continue to be in awe of SJH's acting. How she delivers Coming from watching her romcom dramas Dinner Mate and Kiss Sixth Sense her role as EK is completely shocking for me. Me hating her character means she is doing a great job portraying EK. How she can change from being nice to evil is amazing. She is just a great actress
The fact that ratings are good in South Korea(being a cable series) means they like watching Red Balloon
I am sure if this was available on Netflix outside SK, it will have more exposure like TWOTM. TWOTM itself was based on Dr Foster. Westerners like this type of drama (“The Good Wife, Scandal etc).
The fact that ratings are good in South Korea(being a cable series) means they like watching Red Balloon
AOS2 is also a weekend drama with the same timeslot as RB but catered to the younger viewers . I guess demographics wise, there were more younger viewers watching weekend dramas but ony the older ones like to watch makjang dramas.
I am starting this just for Seo Ji Hye that I like since Dinner mate. After one ep I have to say it has silly…
You will be surprised on a different kind of SJH in Red Balloon People are mostly hating her character but this is because she is doing a great job as the FL, Eun Kang.
It's funny how CW thought he was explaining to EK the misundestanding about the blind date and the rings stuff…
I will not side either with EK or BD on this. BD was wrong in giving out the rings to TG yes but it is not right for EK to go and chase after CW because she was upset at BD. But I think EK was seducing CW out of spite and not because she still has feelings for him like she did in the past. BD giving away the rings to TG must have provoked that. Are we slowly seeing revenge angle(EK to BD) on the next episodes? Anyhow, I do not think they are really good friends to begin with. Like what you said, EK should cut ties with BD, find a better job and concentrate on her teacher's license exam. Speaking of BD, I am curious to know who is the mysterious guy shown on Episode 8 Preview. Could he be the biological father of their daughter?
Personally I love Kiss Sixth Sense. Though the last 2 episodes were a mess. Same with Adamas. So plot wise yes,…
Yes Adamas is worth watching. I like her role as the Kick A Eun Hye Soo. SJH's acting prowess is amazing as always Overall, I like Kiss Sixth Sense better than Adamas. Especially since I'm a Romcom Gal Also, Red Balloon is getting better in Episode 6 just in case you want to try watching again. If you are looking into other SJH dramas, I recommend Dinner Mate and Heart Surgeons(Medical Drama)
2022 was not a great year for her. Both her main dramas were disappointing. Hoping for her great comeback.
Personally I love Kiss Sixth Sense. Though the last 2 episodes were a mess. Same with Adamas. So plot wise yes, both Kiss Sixth Sense and Adamas were disappointing. Reason why both dramas did not do well in ratings. Adding that KSS streaming was on Disney Plus Korea which a lot of viewers did not have access / have subscription. Partly the reason why it did not had buzz. But Acting wise, she was great on both dramas
As for Red Balloon, I am liking it so far. She is great as Eun Kang even though a lot of people are hating her character. That's ok because it just means she is portraying her role well.
In an interview she said she wants to try different genres to evolve as an actress She wants to be known as a good actress more than being a popular actress.
Whatever plan Eun Ga Ill root for her happiness, i can't hate Seo Ji Hye she is one of my girls crush...... and…
One critic questioned SJH’s drama choices specially Red Balloon as EK’s role is being hated a lot. SJH said she wants to try different genres and evolve as an actress. It’s ok to hate her character because it just means she is doing a great job in potraying her role. Still on Team EK. Pandora’s Box will be opened soon.
"Makjang dramas refer to over-the-top dramas that are tough to understand or comprehend based on common sense…
Some Other International Movies about Infidelity that are Critically Acclaimed 1. The Girl on the Train 2. Gone Girl 3. Fatal Attraction 4. Notes on a Scandal 5. Brokeback Mountain
So this is what watching a Makjang Drama is all about (Should Red Balloon really be called a "Makjang"?) Emotions are high Viewers swearing their hearts out Viewers getting so worked up due to their frustration on the flawed characters which is undertandable This genre is definitely not for everyone.
Yes Infidelity should be discouraged. Someone did said, at the end of the day, a drama is just reel life and not real life It should not be taken seriously Therefore, I will proceed to watch with caution
NS and ES for me is like "Lost in Translation Vibes"
Two lonely individuals who found comfort from each other.
The rest of the cast are good as well.
It's not a sin to root for EK and CW. So don't blame yourself.
Just their chemistry itself makes me root for them.
But this is just a drama. We are allowed to root for whoever we want to root for. I have rooted for couples having affairs before(In the Mood for Love, Bridges of Madison County).

Just make it an excuse for you to buy another TV 😊
Based on preference and taste.
If you have watched TWOTM, Love, Marriage and Divorce then you can watch this.
