One time watch for its uniqueness

I don't feel this drama deserves all the hate I see in the review section.

There are people who think it's ridiculous to take the lives of fruit flies and mice seriously, but in this drama it shows the perspective of scientists who experiment on them in space, so I don't see why it should be considered silly.

I can't imagine the budgeting involved in showing an authentic feel of life inside a space station, astronauts space walk, the constant floating around etc. They have managed to give an idea the kind of daily worries, conversations, problems and risks involved in this field. Got more awareness on how life in space affects a human body and how much they have to suffer to acclimatize back in gravity! And the visuals of space are awe inspiring and fascinating! How can anyone get tired of space and call it boring wallpaper and screensaver material is beyond me.

If you watch this drama with an open mind and curiosity, there are many little things to appreciate and empathise. Just for the refreshing new visuals and a completely different drama, I give this an 8!

For the negative -
To start with the chemistry between the leads felt very lacking, kind of forced, happening in too short a timeframe to be believable.

The ML's character is full of contradictions - he doesn't mind disobeying international ethical laws to attempt human IVF in space, (what if it creates a deformed, weak child whose daily life is hell) doesn't mind sleeping with a rich lady to further his dreams of a space research hospital, cheats on her in space, breaks up over a phone call. And yet he is so great with patients, goes to any lengths to help them realise their dreams to become parents, operates on a rat to save its life, cries over the disposal of the morula.

The FL was shown as a professional woman, someone who managed to realize her dream of being a commander in space, despite being abandoned as a baby. But the final 2 episodes didn't do her character justice. Simply because she got pregnant, she is suddenly terrified of space travel and they abort the idea to return her to earth because her BP is too high! And she who should know all the risks and uncertainties of carrying a baby to term in space - even rat babies didn't make it - she still risked her life and the ML going blind and paralysed, to try anyway. Because of her own abandonment issues and the death of the morula cells! Serves her right to die of pelvic fracture and internal bleeding, for her emotional and illogic decision. The show was moving so slowly but suddenly once she dies there is a time jump of a year - we don't even get to mourn the loss of her life! All she got to be in the end was a birth machine for a child she risked to bring into the universe, knowing full well it would be delivered in a hostile environment, with heart and bone density issues!

It would have made more sense for them to come back to earth saying now they know conception is possible in space, and some day in future when science is advanced enough, a healthy baby is going to be born in space, but now is not the time for it, and they can't irresponsibly risk their lives to birth a defective infact with an uncertain and medically difficult future. It would have been a more ethical decision saving more lives.

The side stories felt more like fillers - lottery ticket, one sided feelings and betrayals, the typical chaebol grandpa, the 3 mothers.. Eve's mother arc was totally unnecessary and did nothing to help anyone, and left hanging. All in all, although the show had many plot holes and illogical happenings, it had an entertainment value as it was different from all others. I don't regret watching it.
