@chinesedramafan: How did you like the color scheme from Qin? I like both equally b/c they are helpful for the…
@chinesedramafan: Nirvana in Fire is a good story (and Hu Ge is very good). But, compared to the Legend of Hao Lan, I like that Hao Lan has layers of meaning from the main and supporting actors. Much more complex.

Heck! That's it? He's gone? So quietly? Of all the characters, he is my favorite!
@Jing CJ: Looks like I'm still searching ;-)

Not a prequel to the story but yes it's about Ying Zheng's mother this time! Ying Zheng and Lady Li also appear…
@moondust: thanks for your comments here :) Agreed. Totally.

@chinesedramafan: Actually, I'm struggling with Nirvana in Fire (2015). Got to Episode 30 so far, but it is such a sad revenge story....Also, compared to the Legend of Hao Lan, Nirvana's production sets/costumes/etc feel somewhat "dated". Did you like it?

Title The Legend of Hao Lan Spoiler
He refused to see Hao Lan for the last time. Was it because he didn't want to say goodbye? Or was it because he…
@chinesedramafan: Suspect that the "logic" lies behind how much YiRen understands HaoLan as a person (emotions/actions/etc). The script doesn't show how deeply they understand each other...It is presumed but not expressed.

@chinesedramafan: According to the producer, YiRen didn't want HaoLan to suffer the "pain of loss". But, he knew inherently that his "last actions/demands" would upset HaoLan and thus make her remember him all the more...(Remember how HaoLan remembers him in episodes 58-62/end?)

Well, in most Chinese dramas, the women are seemingly weak and helpless, but behind the scene, they are ruthless…
@chinesedramafan: your comment above reminds me of a really good line from the drama...(Can't spoil it here!) Do you know which line I'm thinking of? *Hint: it was from Yi Ren*

@chinesedramafan: Yep! It is a high-quality production overall. The script does more than just "tell a story" -- it has depth. [Just curious: what are you going to watch next? Or, will you re-watch this one?]

@chinesedramafan: Honestly, I like both -- color/design from Zhao looks elegant; color/design from Qin looks regal and powerful. Color palettes from both are coordinated beautifully, especially with the embroidery. How did you like the dances and music?

Person Mao Zi Jun
He portrayed Ying Yi Ren in the Legend of Hao Lan. It was excellent!! Hope he will be the lead actor in more stories.

I'm quite sure Wei Ying Luo only had true feelings for Fu Heng. Her feelings for Emperor Qian Long are not of…
@Amanda_Chuah: Agreed. With Emperor Qian Long, Ying Luo's affections are goal-based and rationalized, so-to-speak. With Fu Heng, Ying Luo's affections are just pure/true feelings w/o strings attached. This brings me to think that Ying Luo's loyalty to the Fucha Empress (in this story) is the strongest relationship and commitment she honored...

@immortalnight: Agreed. Qin Shi Huang's period (and after) in history had lots of so-called haters. Very slanderous!

@moondust: yes, lots of rumors about Zhao Ji's story. No evidence though. @AnnemarieTenDam: Qin Shi Huang's period (and after) in history had lots of so-called haters. Very slanderous. I like what they did with Zhao Ji's story here.

@drew: The last conversation we see between Yi Ren and LBW was very revealing about their relationships over the years. To me, LBW pushed HL away and he lived to regret it to the very end. LBW should not blame anyone else for his mistakes. (Remember? LBW literally almost abandoned HL in Zhao several times!!)

Actually, I like the ending they chose. It enhances Hao Lan's part (after Episode 58). My only grievance is that Episodes 58-62 seemed rushed and the "younger generation" characters didn't have enough time to evolve before the ending in Episode 62. (Shout-out for more! LOL)

It is too bad that this drama’s reception is influenced by Yanxi fans....It is a good story! Mostly true to history...except for the pseudo-historical Zhao Ji slanders. (Who wants that?!)
