Watched this thinking it's gonna be a masterpiece but it wasn't. I really don't even know what's off about it!…
Sorry you feel like that. I’ve just watched it for the second time and loved it all the more. There is so much depth and subtlety in the stories of all 6 main characters (and Mark too is a delight). It will definitely be a future re-rewatch!
well that drinking in moderation lead to the whole storyline =)
And that’s ok by me! And Wen, drunk or sober, is totally adorable (except when he was sick - not pretty!). He was already deliberately drowning his sorrows when we first meet him, but it’s when someone, usually young, is given one drink and you just know they’re going to end up being embarrassing… Still, that situation does often forward the plot nicely!
I’m still enjoying this, but PLEASE, why can no BL character touch a drop of alcohol without going on a complete binge and behaving like an idiot? So boring and predictable. (With the possible exception of Jim in Moonlight Chicken, who appears to be able to drink in moderation.)
It’s nice to find a BL that acknowledges, very sweetly and tastefully, that during a lovemaking scene (episode 3) there is actually something going on beneath the bedclothes.
A wonderful series - it’s a BL that shows a depth of maturity in its characters, storyline and attitudes, and I don’t just mean the ages of Jim and Wen. People behave in a reasonable way, they try to do better, there is forgiveness, there are no ridiculous misunderstandings, there is open discussion about what it’s like to be gay. The lighting is beautiful and there are no silly sound effects. This is a series that I shall definitely rewatch.
I'm only 24 and I already feel personally attacked by this showhttps://at.tumblr.com/siqen/i-feel-like-theres-a-really-interesting-divide-in/z7wh15jkr8zgI…
I’m an older straight (ish) women, and I totally empathise with Jim and Wen and their relationship. I don’t understand any antipathy towards Jim - he’s worn down by his experiences of life and love, and yet he still loves his restaurant and is full of kindness. He has perhaps taken his responsibility towards Li Ming too seriously and not always looked at things from his point of view, but now that has changed so nicely. It was beautiful to hear LM say how he loved him. As for JimWen, all praise to Wen for persevering with his sweet flirtatious love for Jim. He knows that Jim really loves him back, and is not put put off by any of Jim’s rebuffs. Can’t wait for the next hour!
Did you watch Not Me? He played the bad boy. Suited him well.
I really fell for First in Not Me. I would call him a bad boy though - he seemed to be a sensitive artist and lover, and they were all fighting against social injustice. As an actor he’s so versatile - all big shoulders and sweaty in Not Me, the unsmiling and elegantly dressed Alan - and heartbreaking with it - and the conscientious, closeted schoolboy in Eclipse, until Aye manages to bring out the loving and sunny side of his nature. And in real life he is so different again to all these characters.
Sorry for the book...First, cochlear implants won't always give a deaf person clear hearing, it depends on the…
Thanks, that’s really interesting. I taught severely and profoundly deaf children for many years, but retired some time ago, and cochlear implants were fairly new then. But I have heard that they are particularly beneficial for people who have grown up with normal hearing and speech. (I know of course that they only give the full range of sound.)
Still, of course this just a story, though that’s sometimes hard to remember in a series that seems as real as this one is!
Why is nobody saying about Heart, “This boy should be speaking.”? If he lost his hearing 3 years ago he should still have reasonable speech. If it is psychological from the shock of suddenly going deaf, he should be having psychotherapy and speech therapy, and be considered for a cochlear implant to give him back some useful hearing. Not just shut him away from the world…
This keeps popping up in the feeds and people are loving it. So I decided to give it a go, but I really do not…
Does anyone actually LIKE the sound effects? Why do they use them? When I started watching BLs they were nearly enough to put me off the whole genre… but luckily I persevered and just try to ignore them.
Glad to read some more positive comments after a spate of damning ones! It’s not quite as good as I thought it was going to be at from the start, but I’m still enjoying it a lot. I like the chemistry between them, and love the character of Pond (and his body). It’s a bit difficult to believe that these two well-developed men are high school boys though!
Am I the stupidest person in the BL world? I have watched every episode including 11.1 and 11.2, and I really don’t know how the situations have been resolved. What happened about Dew being shot dead? Are they happy ever after in one universe but not the other? I give up!
