I think she means Don Lee wrote it so it's bound to be bad which is a crazy thing to say since it's too early to judge. This is his first project as a screen writer so I don't think we should judge it based on the first 2 episodes

I love Zhou Ye but I agree with you. I also feel like the way Zhou Ye acts is probably how the director perceived He Yan to act which is different from how at least I thought He Yan would be in the novel but that might just be me. Also, it's hard to believe He Yan use to be a general because of house she behaves and acts
He Yan in the drama is sooooooooooooooooo different from He Yan in the novel. I don't mind that they changed the story due to censorship but He Yan, though physically weak and frail in the book, had such confidence, aura and attitude that it would put 10 physically strong military man to shame. But in the drama, He Yan is so girly and not just look wise but also personality wise (there is nothing wrong with being girly she was raised as a boy her whole life so she shouldn't be acting girly). He Yan in the book was much more feisty in that way. Even if I watch this drama as someone who didn't read the book, Zhou Ye isn't being able to convince me that she used to be a general.
Xaio Jue used to be cold to the point that he was almost rude in the novel. They toned him down a tone but I don't mind it as much except for maybe some scenes. Also WHY IS HE YAN ALREADY SO PROTECTIVE OF XIAO JUE?????? She respected him but also disliked him because he was so arrogant but in the drama she cares for him so much despite his rudeness 🙄
I just don't like when there are multiple mains bec they are not even giving main leads there screen time together…
It's understandable considering this is an ensemble cast but I get what you mean. They could've kept the leads as friends rather than romantic partners because they hardly get enough time together for us to understand or enjoy their relationship.
