The first four episodes are literally following and showing the premise. Of course they would build things up at first and show the family and the situation which caused her to flee. Now they are on the run together, so we will get plenty of screentime with both of them

I actually like this pair too, but I dropped melody of golden age. I'm glad Im loving this one

Three episodes in, and it's actually living up to my expectations. The cinematography is gorgeous. The costumes are good, you can tell that the budget was good for this one. The plot is interesting. The leads didn't have much screentime yet, but you can see the tension in those scenes.

I know, but I'm afraid she will be manipulated by him. Also Mrs Yu is hardly an easy person to deal or live with. Like she said, her son doesn't really loves fan yake but wants someone who would obey him. I hope fan yake will have some redemption arc than being the classic villainess

First 3 eps were soo good, already hooked. the leads have amazing tension and dare I say it’s already better than melody of golden age?

Ah. I hate yu jing xu already.. Rebeling against your mom is one thing, but plotting to ruin someone's life is another. He even ruined fan yake and tingyun's friendship..

this is so freakin ridiculous and heartbreaking to see fan yake betraying her friend whom she knew for years, over a man see met only a few times. I get that she hates how she was being disrespected by everyone and all, but ruining someone's reputation over this? Also shes sliding with a man who clearly got no control over his own marriage or whatsover. Mrs Yu is too powerful, I doubt she will let yake stay peacefully with her son. I hate when female relationships end bc of a man!

Thoughts about the ending, contains major spoilers

The ending was good if we try to ignore the logical part and enjoy the reunion of the main leads and happy moments, then its great. But they were so many things left unexplained. For example how he came back? Like his body was buried and all, so even if he was unconscious in that scene in ep 32, how did he manage to escape everyone? Also many political plotlines ended randomly. Like how prince ding got a huge army of his own? What was the world's reaction when crown prince came back? and many more things. The external political plot fell flat for me, it had great potential but it wasnt properly executed. But still the main reason, I gave this drama such a high rating is because of the acting, visuals, and emotional moments. Also the characters were fun to follow. Side characters like Bu shulin, Chui Jinbai, Prince Lie, Prince Xin were amazing.

This is why I love palace coup episodes of historical cdramas. Everyone can aura farm and show their allies and all. The way Bu shulin appeared? Shen xihe's brother appeared? Also Consort shu's army? Amazing. I was missing our second leads soo much, their reappearance was worth it
