After reading this, Why do I feel almost all of the characters here are the way they are, because of their lack of care and abandonment by their parents? Always pity of CSS because her story is after all, the most highlighted part of this drama. But as the drama goes on, the topics of children abandonment and lack of care extend to another characters of this drama: Ling Buyi=> in his case, his sinister and cruel characters are shaped by the events of Gu’s city massacre, when all of his family members are murdered in a gruesome manners (he witnessed it himself if I watched it from youtube mv) and the only one who should be the only one to raise and take care of him becomes mentally unstable. Then got adopted and raised in the palace by the emperor who loved him like his own, but just like another newbie emperor, he is busy stabilizing his new country, and I guessed both the empress and the consort are busy with their harem and children business, which all of them are still children-if they are at the same age as LBY. So, basically, he had to protect himself in a place full of intrigues, all alone, a similar pattern of CSS case, the difference is LBY’s crueller than CSS, due to the more complicated intrigues between their households. Ruyang princess=> she’s annoying af, I dont doubt it, but still, although she’s not abandoned by her elders, still she is lack of parents love because her parents died young. As a result, she’s spoiled by her grandparents, because they are afraid that she will felt out of love of her parents. Wang Lin=> she’s pitiful, too, in her own way. At first, I thought she’s just another bratty spoiled young girl who enjoyed torturing the helpless and lower than her familial status. As the drama went on, then, it’s revealed that her mother cares more of her delusional ambitions than her husband and daughter. Wang Lin is even always being tortured by her own mother and she’s shipped off to an old man and in this case, her fate is so much worst than CSS (although CSS is tortured by her second aunt when her mother is absent). Even the third princess is another case of an abandoned children here. As much as I hated her guts, she’s pitiful too. Just like CSS, she’s left behind to her uncle, the greedy marquis Yue during the war. The difference is, she’s spoiled and shaped by her uncle to be greedy, just like him. If you’re right about YS’s parents’ case, then he’s quite pitiful as he’s another victim of marriage of convenience and child abandonment case.
And maybe due to his own experience, too, in the end, he chooses to let go of CSS. No one will happy - even if they have children - if he insists to marry CSS, as CSS will only love one man in her life and that’s definitely not YS. Even, YS part 2 will happened if they got married. In simple, they dont have anyone to guide them.

They were cut from the same cloth for me - their characters are similar in some way, just a little different In certain level. Both of them are loyal towards anyone who care for them. Both are yearn for love. Both are smart and cunning (they are slightly different on different level here, while CSS is cunning but not to a point of chopped off other’s head, LBY is cunning on that level). Both are scary. Both of them thrive for revenge with their cunning mind for those who hurt them. Both are lack of love during their childhood. Both are stubborn (it’s LBY that matured enough to take a step back of the young CSS).
So, they’re just the same for me, just a little bit different due to their age, environment and experiences.

I called him irresponsible because he just gave the tiger seal that was entrusted to his hand to other people-even if it’s LBY, it’s really unprofessional of him to do that. It got worst, since LBY declined the tiger seal, he gave and entrusted it to the incompetent and corrupted staff because that people is his wife’s relative. LBY had to clean up his mess of losing the tiger seal, because CSS is involved here CSS is too damn brave to make a fake tiger seal, and LBY understand her character enough to guess that CSS would dare to do that to protect the queen. So he didnt have any choice except cleaning up the mess of the CP - by using the Huo’s seal. in the future episode, I could guessed that LBY will have to clean up the CP’s mess again because of the murder case

Actually, for me, CSS interested in the guy who saved her that night (she cant look at him clearly due to the smoke) And CSS did end up with him, so he’s the last one to appear in front of her that night seemed connected to the author’s theory that each one of them and the sequence of event that night signifies their ending with CSS indeed accurate
