Studium postaci,

Well the incarnation of money has all the classic elements of a revenge drama., THe anatagonist is super smart he's a corrupt prosecutor. Kanh Ji Hwan's character goes from arrogant to caring, he is just as smart. There is a chubby heroine- and she's a winner all throughout so far but here comes's the part which i don't like because I feel they are laughing at eating disorder and she is kind of forced to change...but maybe I"m just oversensitive on this matter...but comedy was rather lacking to me, unlike in Salaryman. I liked Salaryman, I will likely noit mind a bit of slapstick in CS, either. I think IoM it's not a bad choice for a revenge story. It's all pretty well put together But I feel Salaryman and Giant are both better from these writers.

:D thank you. doing exactly what my profile picture does :D and destroying my plan to watch lists in crazy drama watching, currently watching an old japanese drama about kids who are cut off from the rest of the world because of amysterious virus and need to survive on supplies rationed and controlled by the government. A pretty good character study and a dark story. By the way, happy one month anniversay at MDL. Have you been having fun here?

Wow, I love your insights, you can write novels to me any time you want :D I am attracted to the time it's set it-it's rare to have a period drama set in 1930s; it makes it stand out. It does sound to me like it could be a comedy. I'll certainly give it a go. I am YEARNING to crush my PTW lists clean. :P Have you seen incarnation of money? i thought it was a pretty good role of KJH. Have a nice weekend yourself, Ranchy.

I guess it's a boon for those who never had the chance to learn English; there is no reason why cinemas should discriminate against them. Still, it's strange. I cant imagine hearing, say, James Bond speaking in anything else but English. Likewise, it would be a bit weird to hear someone dubbing Lpve Letter for instance, it just wouldn;t convey the same feelings. But luckily we have DVDs with the option of subtitles if need be. Everyone should be happy.

By the way, I noticed that Harmony is somehow very highly rated on here. Is the movie any good?

Well I"ll have to go and see it ^^.
Yes, I will watch Failan soon. I"m curious about it and I want to see more of Choi Min Sik, since he is a consumate actor. But really, eish. the number of trully memorable films is growing. memories of matsuko, love letter, old boy are probably three movies which really change how I watch movies, but memories of matsuo and old boy are "stronger" films. Love letter is far more sutble.

I haven't thought about that, that's an interesting point, thought it raises the issue of intercultural translations. While in films such as Shrek this is a must to some extent because otherwise some cultural references are lost on the viewer, I wonder to what extent the same applies to martial arts movies. Also, For me it's a little funny to hear english actors dubbing original films - I feel then like I am only seeing half of the actor's performance.

I really liked it. What I really caught on here was how how it was a story of what memories mean, how we hold on to memories and seek solace in them, how we don't want to let them go, how they can be obstructive or how can they be healing. Memories are a form of a bond in itself, too..though those memories may be so difficult to put behind and move on And it;s not just aboit the male itsuki, but for the female itsuki and dealing with the death of her dad. It was beautilful, very bittersweet, but lovely. Though I kind of felt sorry for Akiba too.

It's getting old already perhaps? 1 and 2 were pretty good. I haven't seen Avengers but there are still several installments down the line, aren't there?

interesting. Is there a reason? I started looking at the dubbed version, but I wasn't able to shake off this "it's a dub" feeling.

THank you- and for the PM :) It's good to hear, I may actually try to look around in my library. I was just wondering. I've been reading reviews of Failan on imdb recently and a statement concerning dubbed martial arts movies from 1970s cropped up so it actually made me wonder whether it's a rule for all of those old movies to be released dubbed in English. They did that with modern martial arts movies, like Crocuhing Tiger. I understand the need for that if someone is dyslectic perhaps but it takes away from fully appreciating actor's performance, that's why I"m not too keen on watching dubbed version.
