Saya was one of the most interesting characters in S1. He was mysterious, intelligent, educated and according to the prophesy he was the mirror to illuminate the world. I thought he would have an important role in preparing Arthdal for life after Tagon. He was the thinker and Eunsom was the fighter. I just felt he was wasted in S2 - he never really lived up to his promise. What exactly did he illuminate?

I've just watched Episode 9, and omg its so exciting. The past couple of episodes there have been twists and turns at breakneck speed. Loved the ending with the Eunsom and Tagon face off.

Yeah, the episode was called Ikomahis but didn't explain what that meant. We're all on tenderhooks :-)

Tagon is good at scheming, and it was a great plot twist. However, the problem with his scheme is - he acted like a bad king and pretended to randomly kill people . He's turned off many of his true supporters who just wanted him to be good king. They weren't necessarily against him in the beginning, but he turned them into traitors. They just wanted a righteous leader, not a tyrant.

Please calm down - it's just biology - humans bleed when they fight with swords- that's all I was saying!

Thanks, Ancient Love Goddess. I know I've seen it - and Ta gon spending all those years being a warrior and none of his men knowing on the sly about his purple blood was a weak point in the plot in season 1!

Pincolino - I think you're spot on . LJG is playing Saya as a more straightforward evil character without the charm and beauty. I think LJG /Saya's styling is a bit off in season 2. I mean the first time we saw him - he looked a bit like Snape from Harry Potter! I don't really like what they have done to the Neanderthal girl too - they seemed to have turned her into a generic 'mean girl' palace maid. It just seems like lazy writing and a wasted opportunity for a unique character.

It's a weak point in the plot!

I agree it was a cheaper production - the opening credits, cinematography, special effects and sets were much more classy in the first series. However, I think its still worth watching if it has a good plot and is well acted. I thought overall Lee Junki did a good job with the twins - he brought out Eunsom's likeable, cute character and adopted SJK's mannerisms/ mode of speaking. As expected his fighting scenes were excellent. Maybe the weak point was his portrayal of Saya - we definitely got evil twin with a fragile side, but maybe not the beauty and mysterious charm.

Yeah the new subs are patchy - missing pronouns, in the wrong tense etc.

I'm on episode 6 and so far the male lead is quite a laugh. He's almost as silly as Xu Kai's character in Court Lady.

I know - sometimes I think western brands often don't know how to style non-europeans....

Ahh, he's so pretty, but yikes what's with the oversized boy shorts and wellington boots combo. That's a 5/10 for styling Dior.

Actually, one of the strengths of the original was that they used a relatively unknown cast and gave up-and-coming talent a break. Now the cast is full of established stars who are well known for other roles, I'm actually worried it will distract from the plot. But I hope I'm proved wrong when it comes out !

I'm on episode 30 and even though they have spent a lot on the costumes, I feel they are hit and miss. I do love our ML in simple costumes like the flowing blue/ grey robe he was wearing in the Ruo river scenes (episode 29) . However not loving some of the costume choices with shiny, synthetic fabrics, excessive hair ornaments, feathery shoulder pads. Too much of everything can make an expensive costume look cheap. When Tantai jin becomes a disciple cultivator, I breathed a sigh of relief because I thought in this arc he would wearing simple, elegant white robes which really suit him. But no - he's soon back in full headdress, feathery shoulder pads (again!) and dripping in crystals. Overall, sometimes less is more, even if you can afford to do more...

In xianxia, they often have cakey makeup and look kinda washed out. Never really go for the natural look !

Does this show have any heart warming happy bits? I like it but I can't cope with 50 episodes of people being mean to LYN's character.

Oh, I thought she did her own dubbing? Actually I like her voice.

Lol, yeah some of the outfits were a bit Princess Di circa early 80s. SYJ did look good in those little hats though....
