In this drama Cheng Yi has very difficult psychological roll and he is acting super good. His acting skills are perfect.Unfortunately his partner, girlfriend in this drama, has no acting skills. She is exaggerating everything she does, and she can't act. Her behave is amateur, I don't know who chooses her for main role.

Watching Love and Redemption drama chengyi成毅 Yi SiFeng is suffering in 59 episodes , and Cheng Yi depicted those feeling on his face. Unfortunately, Yian Bingyang can't do it. If you pay attention on her face in drama and not on subtitle, you see that
She is female lead but she can't act behind the innocent same as at begging of drama.
She can't make us feel her emotions after regarding her 6 senses.
Im all 59 episodes, Her face exactly same expression, stiff, motionlessness.
as she has hyaluronic filler in face.
Unlike Cheng Yi whose emotions are visible even when he doesn't speak at all.
For example :
After she Zhu Xuan Ji found at Si Feng fake wedding, her face is motionless, without any expression, without feelings, immovable.
Right and after that she is in forest,calm, she stands like she is picking flowers, forest, her face is like doll face, not having any expression.
Si Feng fake wedding is moment when she should be broken.
We should have seen that on her face .
After seeing SiFeng wedding, she should be broken in peaces, and main role actress can't depict any of this on her face.
No tears, no red eyes.
Then, when she was reunited with Si Feng in bed, when he hugged her and decided to be with he
She didn't make any feeling face .
Her face is again immovable. Motionlessness.
Actress yuan Bingyang cant express any of emotions and make us feel what character is feeling.
Is there any actress to be good as Cheng Yi in expressing feelings?

Best drama
Cheng Yi doesn't have romantic partner n rhis drama so his acting skills are uninterrupted by bad actresses, and in some previous dramas.Story and places where is recorded and perfect! Beautiful scenery!
Story also is perfect. Fairy tale but also realistic!

Qi Yan was really emperor, of Tang dinasty. born in 814. He had a love story, with a singer dancer that he brought in palace. He did dies at 31 and his uncle, lord of Guang did inheritet his trone. Emperor Yan had 5 sons and all of term disapeard from history records. His love woman commited suicide when he died.in this drama i dont think that writer meant that emperor faked death. emperor said in next life will live ordinary life with her.
Although the TV series "Dream Awakening Chang'an" is adapted from Feihua's novella "Swordsmanship", the original novel only has 70,000 words and focuses on emotional description.
Screenwriter Shi Si Que spent six years adapting the novel and researching history, bringing it closer to history. Even the protagonist was changed. So, the adapted "Dream Awakening Chang'an" is completely different from the original, fairy-like martial arts novel "Swordsman"!

Disappointed
I was very disappointed that script failed when grandmother saw how fast hands has Mi Lan, and just ignored so important observation to not say it to Yun Hong Shen! She spoke to him that evening , and didnt told him such important observation!Then another spoiler is, when grandmother, knowing how dangerous work is Yun doing, she started interrogation of Mi Lan on her own!!! That was so naive, and experienced lady as her, from rich family, wouldn't do that.
She would ask Mi Lan im front of someone and be prepared to expose a spy, and not as she did it!
Then, she exposed a japanese spy, and grandmother stayed home alone!!!!
Knowing that Mi Lan will realise she is exposed!
Grandmother could leave house, go somewhere, but she even send away her housekeeper!
Then spoler is , how such a rich house, doesnt have armed security!!!!
Especially when her son is killed and when her grandson was tried to be kill multiple times!
Also police was obligated to be in front of such a house all the time and olus to have prived armed security!
So Mi Lan just returned and killed her, like its nothing!
Those things doesn't make any sense im script.
Then , when Yun Hong Qi founded where
Zong Fang and Mi Lan are hiding, he just spoiled that precious info! He knew that he cant catch them but he enters in house anyway!
He, amateur, entering to catch two Japanese spies ! That scene doesn't makes any sense ! Thats absurd and then I stopped watching drama.
Just doesn't makes sense and not realistic.
Yun Hong Qi would know that he would die, so why would he even try to do such a suicidal mission?!?! Leads nowehere.
He survived only cos Mi Lan didn't want to kill him. Nonsensicall action.

Boring plot, dream while man is dying in coma. Nonsence plot
First , except Cheng Yi other actors are very ordinary, they dont look like actors. But, all actors act good. Cheng Yi has extraordinary good martial arts skills here, difficult choreography , but he does it great! so skilled!So ALL actors act great. Martial arts of all actors is great.
Plot is real nonsence. I pushem my self to watch next eposides, and I watched all 40 but its boring.
Too many wide stories, I cant follow all characters, I cant follow what is point of story and story doesnt have a point, because its unconnected dream of man who is in coma and who will die in end.
Its very depresive, to know that story is coma dream, has no sense.
cant be compared to Lotus tower.
MUSIC is too loud!!!!! sometimes, voices of actors are not heard, because music is too loud! that is huuuuge huge lack of drama, and who ever added music, shouldnt work in fim industry anymore, he destroyed sound completely!!!! that person has no capability for music, no talent no ear!
and also I didnt liked date of release drama. it was 9/11. If they waited few years to release drama, why choosing so bad date when 3000 people are killed in america in twin towers ?
and in morning of day of premiere, as you know, actor yu menglong was murdered, and there is entire drama around that among citisens in china......... it was bad date for release drama.....

Main actor Lu Chen is very beautiful, tall manly.They act good, even acting between main actors is weird, even when they act old relationship events, they both behave same strange. Not natural at all. Not happy.
Story is good , because biches like this girls really exist.
So, Xiao, broke up with Chen 8 years ago, because she thinks she can find better to get married! and because she doesnt love him! No, you dont break up with someone if you love him, end of story!
and then, she realises she grow old unmarried, almost 30, and she asks for his number! Because she knows he loves her!
then, she still waits 2 years, thinking she will find someone better to marry her,
and as she didnt, old lady of 30, because she cant find any husbant, then she remembers her old boyfriend, that she dumped, and goes in his village, where he workls, to chase him!
so, beeches like this, doesnt deserve to have again boyfriend that they dumped! I wish Lu Chen had already new love and marriage, and long time agoforgot this beech!
that would be justice .
but, unfortunately, men like Lu Chen are many, and they would be again with some beech who hurt them, instead of beeing with some nice girl that really loves them.

Watchung this because of Cheng Yi. Plot is extrimly stupid and goes on my nerves.there are stupid and imposible plot, that emperor didnt wrote edict who will inherit trone after he dies!
but he says his last will to mentaly sick wife, yes she is mentaly sick and unstable, and then she LIES about last will to others,
depriving her son to be emperor! because her mental sick head thinks its best for him!
she even knows that fake emperor can kill him, her son, and she still delivers fake lying message about last will of emperor!
so both cheng xi parents, mother and father are insane people, so he had no chance to have normal life!
so disturbing and goes on my nerves, dont know If I can continue watching stupid story
