three eps in。 The FL has played many bratty princesses and younger sisters。 I love her range of micro expressions。 It seems she is finally old enough for a lead role。Though it‘s very low budget, there are some hilarious moments。

In terms of production value, acting and chemistry, this seems to be one of the best historical cdrama I've seen.…
That scene in ep 1 was so distasteful I closed the ep, and I’m here to see if it is worth continuing. How could anyone find that agonizing treatment of a horse entertaining?

On rewatch, another thing I loved: they used a real dancer for the guy at the women‘s house. (I don’t know why most c-dramas don‘t hire real dancers more, instead of having an actress wear a pretty dress and wave her arms around a lot, and maybe they hoist her into the air so she can wave her arms more). This guy could really dance—I kept having to go back and watch it again.

I agree that somehow I also feel the vibe of NIF in MLC. In term of great acting and how the characters got me.…
Totally agree!

Finished last night. Loved it so much—it was the bromance that I loved best, though I adored the little teenage princess, and Xiaobao‘s awesome auntie and mother. As I watched, it kept hitting me how very much this series is in conversation with Mei Changsu of NIRVANA IN FIRE. The little details like the rubbing of forefinger and thumb when he’s thinking deeply, to the white cloak (and people bringing him cloaks), to the lying about his condition, as well as all the blood spitting, of course. We‘ve had a lot of Mei Changsu clones in historical dramas, which makes me sigh as that was the aspect of his personality that I liked least. But here, Li Lianhua was so well written, and so phenomenally acted, that the character is no mere clone—he has to deal with the consequences of all the lying, etc. And the bromance with the other two was just so fine.

Terrific actors, and gorgeous scenery but wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a c-drama in which 90% of the scenes involved people eating. And another 5% is fixing the food.

quite to be honest, that seems to be the preferred "sob" of most if not half the villains.they had a sucky childhodd,…
OMG yes, and then they’d whine about it for half an ep as everyone stood around listening . . .

I’m up to ep five, and I’m finding this a lot like Jun Jiu Ling in that the story, once it gets going, is entertaining, with great sets, interesting characters, and terrific acting. But the butchered editing has all the grace and sense of a drunken elephant on the rampage. Especially in the first ep, which is the same I found with Jun Jiu Ling—it made utterly no sense, and took two or three to recover. There are painfully obviously plot holes where there had to have been whole scenes if not entire eps. Ugh, there ought to be a law against governments getting their disgusting mitts all over art.

It's a shame--it had so much talent, such gorgeous art, and so much potential. But a crappy script is lethal.

Who are they, if you are talking about the prostitute and the guy who likes her, they both were killed by fushui.
No, Fu Yin, who had the baby with Lu Qi. Lu Qi is exiled at the end, but Yin just seems to be sidelined, whereas all the other couples get an ending or are dead.

What happened to Yin'er and Shan? So much crazy going on in those last eps, did I miss it?
On General's Lady Oct 23, 2020
I thought from the title that this would be a quasi-military setting, so maybe there would not be any of that obnoxious baby talk that makes it impossible for me to watch the ones in modern settings. But I've hit ep six, and there is nothing but drunken baby talk while the FL makes a total ass of herself. Does it get any better? If no, time for el dumperoo.

Subs on kissasian are decent of course it does not compare to viki
Yeah, they seem to have finally discovered Asian dramas. Two years ago they had maybe one or two a year. Now they are getting more of them, I'm glad to see.
