That final scene before the credits was gold! IK was one hell of a great ride. As Lou says below, it has an awesome cast, great OST and marvellous production values. I particularly enjoyed that we had LYA and KHS playing opposite one another as they had a good dynamic as DIL and MIL in Lightโs Diary. As for K, her character was played beautifully to a tee. She made it her own.
I thought the last two episodes were a very satisfying ending. Yes, IK is unique. It was not over the top and the quirkiness was just right. It would be awesome to see this cast together once again in another show, whatever that may be ๐
So, there we have it - a total, full on entertaining ride that is not only well worth watching, but bingeworthy too. Fabulous leads, some great themes, a clever indirect commentary on the current pandemic and some fine performances throughout. One of my favourite shows for the year ๐๐
At this point I take off my hat to this drama and I am applauding the reveal at the end of ep 10. I love everyoneโs speculations below. One thing is for certain: not is all that it seems. Writer Nim is putting on a masterclass in how to do a very understated and underrated thriller here. You get time to absorb the characters - great interactions and the dialogue is superb ๐
It was perfect until they really prolonged foolish stuff with the amnesia thingy. The writer could have focused…
Sadly, I have to agree. The amnesia trope doesnโt fit into the overall tone of the show. As you point out, there are so many more issues to explore. Or, they could have continued in a positive vein re their relationship - I think many of us would be up for that type of cheeriness.
I thought eps 7 & 8 were superb. I really enjoy when the are testing the explosive devices and chemicals. Itโs like watching a mini version of Mythbusters ๐
So, here we are at the halfway mark. Show is awesome ๐ LYA is fabulous as Inspector Koo, K is a delicious treat and Chief Yong is delightfully cray cray. Show is clever and entertaining. Itโs both Columboesque and veiled at the same time. I love the OST tooโฆ
I still enjoy it but your criticism is valid. I feel the best part of the show is the history of the mountain…
I appreciate the thoughtful response and I am glad you are continuing on. I know a number of other watchers who have said similar and that I should at least watch the next episode, which I may do.
I couldnโt get into Secret, despite the wackiness and the cast. I found myself being impatient and wanting to ffwd towards the end of ep 1 and then did so in ep 2. Anyway, looking forward to KHYโs next drama: Snowdrop.
I really wanted to like Jirisan. I found the initial episodes really interesting. However, I feel show is heading off in a direction that appears to undermine a great story re the importance of this mountain in peopleโs lives. The acting is good. Some of my favourite actors are here. The cinematography is amazing. The writing though, fell apart for me during eps 4 and 5. Perhaps, I am too impatient. But, my gut instinct is telling me to walk away - so, dropped.
Although the first two episodes were well made and the story well told, I didnโt really start to enjoy show until about halfway through episode 3. Now I am really looking forward to episode 7 and what comes afterwards ๐
What more can you ask for re such a delightful show? Not only that, but the cast is awesome too ๐ This is a cut above many other family driven shows and I like the different relationships that have unfolded so far. Iโm really looking forward to eps 13 and 14 ๐
