Well, I liked it. I wasn’t expecting much due to many of the comments out there. However, it’s better than a whole stack of movies based on a similar theme. Nice additional moments through the credits as well as some behind the scene grabs.
Here we are at the end. I enjoyed the first 20 episodes, but then it fell away and was almost like a different show. However, the final episode was quite good. What more can we say about our volunteer subber - they are terrific. As others have said here, it’s worth watching this show alone for their additional, and at times, very humorous comments.
What I do like so far is that we have a range of complex characters, the way in which the story is told (it’s engaging) and the various relationships. It’s not cut and dried. It has the potential to rise above some of the classic kdrama stories along similar lines (and so, it would be nice to have different outcomes to those earlier dramas).
Every time the family gathers at the dinner table I get an Agatha Christie vibe re who killed Seok Hee’s mum - And Then There Were None, or Murder on the Orient Express :)
I thought episode 6 was really well done. It was a good blend of a case, the angst in trying to reach an outcome and dealing with issues personally. And his comment towards the end “she’s feisty” - classic :)
Sadly, I don’t feel compelled to continue after the first two episodes. Personally, I like the title, the cast and the premise (cryogenics is one of my all time favourite storyline’s). It’s just for me, the execution falls flat for a whole range of reasons including the editing, the drawn out flashbacks and, perhaps what seems to be forced humour. There are some great comments below by others, both for and against what has happened so far, and so I think it’s one of those shows you have to watch and just judge for yourself.
This is a decent spy thriller with a good dose of action that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is what it is - full on entertainment. Love it.
Vagabond has a very good cast. I think our leads are doing just fine. In the support roles, we even have the likes of Kim Jung Hyun, who plays a very nice guy in Shady Mother-in-Law, playing a decent scumbag here as the assistant to Jessica Lee.
The end to episode 4 - a classic encounter and outcome with a hook that wants you to see what is said next. I’m going to keep enjoying the ride...
