people like you are literally why victims don't feel like coming forward with their stories - you literally don't…
- "First of all when u are young and a victim of bullying it's not easy"

Sure, it's not easy. But that doesn't mean we should just blindly trust all and any accusations being made against a public figure. He could be guilty, but he could also be innocent.

- "Seeing the person who hurt you in such extreems on tv and living "the good life" isn't exactly the most fun OK?!"

That sounds way more like revenge than justice.

- "Actions has consequenses"

X actions have X consequences, not X actions have Y and Z consequences. Moreover, we don't even know if there have been "actions" here.

- "If he's innocent he will be proven innocent so no worries there."

How?

- "you literally called the metoo movement bullshit"

I never said it was "bullshit," I said I was "sick" of it. I'd never regard a movement that has the potential to destroy the lives and careers of innocent people and that seriously erodes due process and presumption of innocence as "bullshit."

Victims matter just as much as due process and presumption of innocence. Otherwise we are just going back to the times of witch burning.

- "that says enough about what a trash human being are you"

Thank you for the compliment.

people like you are literally why victims don't feel like coming forward with their stories - you literally don't…
- "people like you are literally why victims don't feel like coming forward with their stories"

That's where your wrong. ALLEGED victims should not "come forward with their stories", they should bring the alleged perpetrators to court and get justice.

- "instead of blaming victims that are traumatised by their abusers and scared to speak out"

Could you please point out where have I "blamed victims"? Thank you.

- "These people aren't seeking revenge"

What are they seeking then?

- "they want justice"

Then why haven't they brought their alleged victimizers before a court? Also, what do you exactly mean by "justice"?

- "you honestly don't seem to care"

I do care. But I also care about presumption of innocence and due process. There can never be justice without those two elements.

- "your favourite idol's career matters more to you"

He's not even my idol or one of my favorite actors.

- "jisoo could be a bully, you don't know that"

Or he couldn't. You don't know that.

- "You don't know these actors/idols"

Neither do you.

- "these claims could be true"

Or they couldn't.

- "you'd rather blame the victims instead."

Again, could you please point out where have I "blamed victims"? Thank you.

I'm sick of the so called #MeToo movement and cancel "culture" that destroy lives and careers over baseless and unverifiable accusations. How is that any different from witch hunting and mob lynching? Courts and presumption of innocence are not trimmings, they exist for a reason. That is nothing but regression as a society. He could be guilty or innocent. We simply don't know the truth.

In any case, I condemn bullying in the strongest terms and despise bullies. However, alleged victims should have spoken out or brought it to court back then. Maybe, in some cases, they weren't able to (given how bullying is/was tolerated in Korea), but still, how does coming out years or decades later help anyone? That's just petty revenge and attention-seeking.

Does anyone know where can I download this drama in good quality? It's not on AvistaZ. Thanks a lot! ^^

How far are you into the series because..
Only first two episodes, so I have not checked the spoiler :)

If I found myself in the same situation, the first thing I’d do is to grab an automatic weapon and a bullet-proof vest, among other useful stuff. I cannot fathom how any of the characters hasn’t come up with the idea of looking for weapons or something to protect themselves.

The best place to find weapons and protection gear would be a military base, but since there are none close to Shibuya, I’d just go to the Imperial Palace or the Prime Minister’s Office in Chiyoda and find their armories. That’s something they can actually do between games!

This drama is really good so far, though. That was just my personal reflection. ^^

Title True Beauty
This drama is surprisingly good! I was expecting a light drama to help me relax, but this drama is more than that. I'm glad I started watching it, I'm not so glad I'll have to wait for new episodes...

The FL is cheating. What she's doing is simply not okay. She's putting on a mask, literally, to the point she's virtually indistinguishable from the real herself. There's nothing wrong with using makeup or other methods to enhance your appearance, but this is way excessive for the aforementioned reasons. It's as if a man put on fake muscles, a fake 6 pack and on top of that 5 inches (13cm) shoelifts.

Korean society is a very superficial society that imposes largely unattainable beauty standards. Both women and men suffer from that. That's wat led the FL to be such a fake. At least non-good looking women can use makeup, while men have no options (except expensive plastic surgery) to enhance their looks. I personally find it worrying when a society values appearance over personality in so many respects and situations. It's not a sane society.

Being beautiful or handsome doesn't make you a better person, and not being attractive doesn't make you an undesirable person or less worth. This doesn't mean you don't have to take care of your appearance or body, only that you should not feel forced to kowtow to unrealistic beauty standards. Lucky me, in Korea, I was considered "very handsome" (not my words), so I received very good treatment. I don't even want to think what would have happened if I were ugly.

I hope this drama shows the current situation in Korea from multiple perspectives (it's too soon to say if it's the case or not) in a well written and entertaining plot without the all too common lecturing in a hackneyed fashion. So far, I highly recommend you to watch this drama. ^^

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Presumption of innocence is one of the basics of democracy. I don't…
"We are not a criminal court, so everyone can make up their own mind with the information we have."

This. But still, it's not enough information to say he's either guilty or innocent.

"The system is in favor of powerful people."

Not really. Powerful people do exploit it sometimes, though.

"The problem is that many cases are difficult to prove due to a lack of evidence."

That's not a reason to get rid of presumption of innocence and due process. We should improve the system, not get rid of it.

"In the case of the actress, he was still fined with physical assault because of a lack of evidence"

Physical assault and rape are two different things. If he was fined with physical assault it's because there was proof of that.

"It's very difficult to prove rape and sexual assault."

Not in most cases. I'm saying this as someone with a background in law.

"Oh, btw his defamation and false accusation complaints were rejected by the prosecutors."

That doesn't prove that he's a rapist, either. Criminal law is a complex issue.

How is this case comparable to Weinstein's?

"After many years, the US justice system finally made it possible for these crimes to be brought into court and victims to obtain justice."

How wasn't it possible before?

"you're defending a rapist"

I'm defending presumption of innocence and due process. I never defended him or claimed he was a nice guy, quite the contrary.

"un-problematic, beautiful court system of South Korea"

Where did I defend the South Korean court system?

Reading comprehension doesn't seem to be your strong suit.

"he had multiple allegations from different women saying he sexually assaulted them."

Allegation ≠ proof. False allegations have destroyed many lives. I'm not saying these particular allegations are necessarily false, just that there's no evidence and charges were dropped.

Remember, anyone can make an allegation against you, too.

"the court system has failed over and over again."

The court system is not perfect and sometimes fails, so let's just get rid of it altogether and resort to witch hunting. What could possibly go wrong?

"using the argument "courts and due process exist for a reason" is extremely distasteful"

It's not an argument but a self-evident truth. It's presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial what you actually find "distasteful."

"there was a guy who severely beat a child and raped her, and he was just let out of prison and was allowed to move back into her neighborhood"

How has that anything to do with the issue at hand? In any case, we are talking about presumption of innocence and due process, not paternalistic prison policies.

"you, and the others backing up this article, are incredibly disrespectful to the victims"

Demagogically shielding yourself behind alleged victims of rape doesn't help your cause, quite the contrary.

"*in my opinion*. this article should be taken down"

Your personal opinions are not above other people's right to write articles.

"rapists don't deserve recognition."

Agreed. Was he convicted of rape? No. Therefore, we can't legitimately call him a rapist.

"you can't be serious right now. stupid, blind, ignorant, and fucked up."

Thank you for the compliments.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Presumption of innocence is one of the basics of democracy. I don't know about the allegations against him other than what is mentioned in this article, but calling someone a "rapist" without a guilty verdict or evidence is not acceptable in any civilized society. He doesn't look like a nice guy, I will give you that, but there is a stretch between acknowledging that and accusing him of serious crimes without any evidence. Courts and due process exist for a reason.
