I'm on episode 18 and really gripped by this drama so far, I don't understand the bad reviews. It seems some viewers don't like the pairing up of Yanyan and the emperor and this ruins the entire drama for them, but y'know, thats why its called a drama lol. Love the grasslands scenes and the costumes and the acting is decent for me too.Shawn Dou is very dashing. He shines both portraying Yanyan's warm and tender first love and the enraged, betrayed childood friend of the emperor. Interested to see how this develops post-betrayal. I'll be back to report if it all goes downhill from ep18 onwards!
I'm really interested to see a drama in this time period and geographical location. A bit different from the historical dramas I've seen. Disappointed that the reviews don't seem great but I will give it a shot anyway.
It's set in the same universe, but a long time before the TMOPB events. The two stories do not share any characters,…
is it the same Si Ming Star Lord? Obviously not the same actor but are they meant to be the same character? I'm only on episode 1 so I just noticed him.
Nah, no one in the drama was a truly bad person. The fairytale aspect is childhoods innocent hopes and dreams that are tarnished by the selfish actions of adults (e.g parents cheating and divorce) and sometimes just cruel fate .(Pupus brothers illness). The kids naivety and wish to do good (save Pupus brother) was what lead them to blackmail Mr Zhang .There was nothing psychopathic about Chao Yang, he was just a lonely kid trying to gain his parents approval. Why would he be loyal to his friends through all of that with no gain for himself then try to harm Pupu? Makes no sense. If people are saying Pupu isn't alive (even though Chen said they could visit her) because you can interpret this part as a fairytale if you wish then did anything in the drama even happen at all lol. Zhang saved her because he wasn't truly bad. Preserving the child who had a pure heart let the fairytale and the spirit of innocence live on. That's my take anyway.
Thats how it is in China :( They don't like curly hair either. Obviously it was even more so in that period.
There's Pretty Li Huizhen and she starts off with curly hair at the beginning of the drama when she is unstylish, but I think it actually looks awesome. https://kisskh.at/19444-pretty-li-hui-zhen
I call this " The Drama of Ill-fitting Pants". Some of the costumes, especially Qu Mantings, are absolutely beautiful, but the military academy guys and their baggy bottoms, whether uniform, general attire or PJs had me chuckling throughout.
I love most family dramas of 100+ eps but I'm not wild about this one at ep 16. The female lead is not particularly endearing and I'm just not feeling the other characters tbh. Hope it gets better.
