Oh my.. Quan Sheng Tang and Su Cheng Cheng together?! Now I'm really curious how she managed to do that.. it's getting more and more interesting day by day. Can't wait for the next episode!
lost you forever ost aaaaaaa crying, i was trying to forget my man xiang liu but they just did that easily, that…
Who the heck decided to play this OST here.. 😭 I was laughing a moment ago, and then it played... now I'm crying... I guess the makers don't want us to be happy for too long 😢 Xiang Liu will forever be alive in our hearts❣️
Can't agree more! However, no lie, I find Xue Ran Ran a bit annoying. Most of the time, her dialogues are like 'Master is so handsome...' or 'Master this and that...' I'd love it if her lines were more meaningful and focused on other stuff beyond just obsessing over her master every chance she gets. Yeah... appreciating beauty is one thing - Cdramas aren't Cdramas without some of that - but the frequency of these dialogues was overkill for me. Mu Qing Ge does it better, imo.
ANCIENT LOVE POETRY: Shanggu and Bai Jue are lovers. Tian Qi likes Shanggu. YueMi likes Tian Qi. Yue Mi died saving…
Le me.. focusing on the fact that they used the same set over and over again. One minute it's the Bright Moon Palace, and the next it's the Cold Spring Palace. They also kept showing the sea where Jing Yuan got killed by XingYue's bow and for no reason, XingYue's residence was also one of the reused sets which doesn't even looks like a place where a Supreme Goddess resides. To make matters worse, there were barely any background actors. I mean, you're fighting for the three realms, and aside from the three - XingYue, Jing Yuan, and Mo Li, what were the others even doing? It's like they didn't care about their masters' or Realm's safety, and the director just wanted us to believe the fights were legit. Seriously? And on top of that, the fights were super short - just a few blows and it's over. Is it really that easy to take down a god who can destroy the three realms? It kinda ruined the emotional impact for me. I still liked it overall, but there are some things that just don't make sense to me...
should i give this drama a try ?? i’ve been putting it off bc the ML isn’t really one of my fav actors but…
Well it depends on what you like to watch..
To be honest, the story is complex and requires multiple watches to fully understand and appreciate the emotional connections with the characters. Even the support characters have their own stories. Xianxia is a genre mostly known for character developments and emotional rollercoaster stories. If you prefer characters' struggle and development more over plot, then it's definitely for you. There is a reason for its high ratings worldwide, right? So it's definitely recommended from me.
The initial episodes might feel fast, but later ones slow down a little, and it's up to your patience level to stick with it. The story has three arcs. If you're a fast dropper, you might drop it in the initial episodes (the first arc of the story), where the story is still in its development phase. However, if you stick with it for at least 8 episodes, it gets interesting thereafter. The second arc spans episodes 16-39, and the rest are part of the third arc (though I don't recall the exact episode numbers for the second arc).
As an ALP fan, I can say that you explained the connection between Ancient Love Poetry and The Last Immortal beautifully.
I watched this drama when it was airing and just stumbled upon your review and stopped to read it because of your Headline. I share the same thoughts as yours on Yuan Qi's character. I just couldn't understand why everyone was blaming him - I mean, just try to think from his perspective for once; he had no absolute control over those events, and everyone was trying to use him and exploit his kindness for their own good. He tried his best to protect everyone. I couldn't help but somehow blame A'Yin for her own tragedy; she never once tried to listen to Yuan Qi and was always thinking of outsmarting everyone, which made her seem too stubborn and naive. Had she tried to understand Yuan Qi and his position and responsibilities, she would not have died under Yuan Qi's sword - as the saying goes, "who wears the crown, only knows how much it weighs."
Even after her Nirvana, she never tried to understand Yuan Qi and was constantly blaming him until she learned about his deteriorating body, which couldn't hold on for much longer. She never tried to put herself in his shoes, look at the bigger picture, or realize her own past mistakes. Fate and people around her were cruel to her, but even more so to Yuan Qi. You don't know how much I wished to see Yuan Qi happy and carefree again; his last words before his death really made me shed tears.
However, I still feel that the drama somehow lacked in portraying this heart-wrenching story in a more impactful way or maybe I'm nitpicking things..🤷🏻♀️ Also I didn't like the idea of making this a standalone drama and changing all the names and not even providing a clear overview of the prequel. This would have helped the viewers to understand the characters and the motives for their actions better.
Anyway.. your review was very beautiful and I almost had tears in my eyes just by reading it, as those heart-wrenching scenes from both dramas flashed before my eyes once again..

It's about Moonlight Mystique but as you might know, this is the trilogy and are connected to each other. The initial chapters of the third book are just to provide an overview of overall situation of Tian Qi and Yue Mi's story. Without being familiar to their past story it would be difficult to connect with many characters here. And not only these initial chapters include the situation of Divine Realm but also the overview of the book of drama The Last Immortal. Without reading these chapters you may not understand how Tian Qi became Fan Yue and how deep his love is. When Bai Shuo was saved when she was young, Tian Qi was still the Demon God of Divine Realm - one among the four true Gods, then how he become demon king Fan Yue now and why he doesn't have any memory of Divine Realm, it's explained in these chapters...
it is sad to see that neither the last immortal or the moonlight mystique has maintained the legacy of Ancient…
Though I'm loving Moonlight Mystique too, I have to agree on this - Ancient Love Poetry is still a masterpiece that no one can match, whether it's the CGI, acting, costumes, elegance, portrayal of emotions in the story, and most importantly, the OSTs, which are still on repeat mode in my playlist. That's why it has never slid down from a 10 in my list, even after all this time has passed. I'm missing Liu Xue Yi as Tian Qi in Moonlight Mystique a lot.
I agree. ML is too handsome. Will see how he plays in future episodes. I feel that he is too good looking and…
Well.. the characters Tantai Jin and Tian Qi (Fan Yue) are completely different character. Their nature is not alike and never meant to be. If you've watched Ancient Love Poetry, you might know. However, I agree that Ao Ruipeng is miscast as ML here but he is trying hard to carry domineering aura, however it's still not enough because he is more cute side.
i'm still trying to wrap my head on whos' who. i come here because ALP, so i was expecting the mains ' name are…
Here XingYue mean the Goddess of Stars and Moon that's Yue Mi and in mortal world her name is Bai Shuo. Tian Qi was Jing Yuan in the second arc of ALP (during Hou Chi and Qing Mu's arc) and here in MM he is Fan Yue but I think he's lost the memories of God Realm, which is still not clear.
Makers had to change the original names because of copyright issues.
It's Tian Qi from ALP but they changed the names..
It's Tian Qi in God Realm when he started the destruction formation according to this drama. There is no mention of Mo Li in the novel as far as I know. As I said Mo Li is Tian Qi and Fan Yue/Jing Yuan is also Tian Qi. They just changed the name Tian Qi to Mo Li because of copyright issues

Yes, he is. But I have yet to read the novel about how Tian Qi became Fan Yue and doesn't have the memory of God Realm. But it's true that they changed the names Tian Qi to Mo Li and Yue Mi to Xing Yue. Also the timeline of this drama is a bit confusing - I don't have any idea that in which timeline they set up this drama as Tian Qi's story starts way after Yuan Qi's in the novel while in drama they said that Tian Qi (Mo Li) started the destruction formation 60000 years ago in which Yue Mi (Goddess Xing Yue) died. In this sence, the setting should be in parallel timeline with Hou Chi and Qing Mu's (ALP). I only have read a few initial chapters of the third novel and anything about Fan Yue is not mentioned till there, but Tian Qi is.
