So did he die or is he and Yuemi back together at the end of ALP?
What do you mean by "MIA" ? Yuan Qi died in second novel not in the first one. Second novel was adapted as the drama The Last Immortal while the first novel was adapted as Ancient Love Poetry. This is the third novel which is adapted as Moonlight Mystique. It is mentioned in first chapters of third novel that Tian Qi's whereabouts are not known to anyone for thousands of years since he left God Realm after Bai Jue's revival and he didn't show up when Yuan Qi died.
So did he die or is he and Yuemi back together at the end of ALP?
Yue Mi died but Tian Qi lived on. After Bai Jue's death and Shang Gu's retreat, he managed God Realm's affairs until Bai Jue revived. According to the novel Bai Shuo Shang Shen, after Bai Jue's revival and knowing unconditional Yue Mi's love for him, he wandered in the whole three realms in search of Yue Mi's soul. Nobody had a clue about his whereabouts and he didn't showed up even when Yuan Qi died - Yuan Qi (the male lead of drama The Last Immortal), Bai Jue and Shang Gu's son but was brought up by Tian Qi...
Also this drama has the worst and longest intro which has already spoiled all the main parts of drama ๐ญ
Thank God I rarely watch opening and ending credits before the last episode... It's the case with many dramas out there that's why I mostly skip them... Anyway I'm liking this drama so far..
Reading the comments makes me wonder if you guys are really following the plot and character building dynamics…
Can't agree more! I mean, she's just a human with no power to tackle great demons and immortals, so what's wrong with using whatever leverage she has to her advantage? She's trying to improve, but it's not like she can achieve instant growth. Others have been cultivating for years, while she's just starting out, so it's only logical that she'd use that stone as leverage to survive - otherwise, she'd be dead in no time.
So , is that Yuemi from ancient love poetry and this is her story?? Someone please elaborate.
There are some deviations in the drama Moonlight Mystique from the actual novel Bai Shuo Shang Shen and also from Ancient Love Poetry, that's why the storyline is not aligning with ALP. In the novel, Tian Qi was searching for Yue Mi's soul like Bai Jue once did for Shang Gu, but Tian Qi couldn't find it after thousands of years of search. And yes, his name was cleared in ALP and as well as in the first novel "Shang Gu"
can I start watching this one without watching ancient love poetry first?
Yes.. you can. This drama is produced as standalone and almost all the names & storyline from ALP is replaced because of copyright issues. So there's no problem watching it without watching ALP first... Hope this helps..

Yes.. it's Yue Mi and Tian Qi's story after Yue Mi reborn as Bai Shuo. But makers changed the names and some of the storyline because of the copyright issues
So, today i read the first three parts of chapter 1 of the last book Bai Shuo Shang Shen and it's timeline is mentioned there. It's the time long after when Yuan Qi's story closed. Tian Qi left the God Realm to search for the soul of Yue Mi in the entire three realms (just like Bai Jue once did). But after searching for thousands of years, he couldn't find even a silver of her soul. She is reborn but Tian Qi doesn't know. Also there is a slight difference to what shown in ALP and what's written in book. Bai Shuo was born long after the Yuan Qi in the book. How exactly Tian Qi and Bai Shuo(Yue Mi) met is yet to come into picture.. When I arrive at the point i'll surely let you know...
If you want to read the book, here are two website links of english translated version:
Tian Qi and Yue Mi never get reunited in Ancient Love Poetry.
This is triology written by Xing Ling which includes three books named as Shang Gu (Ancient Love Poetry), Shen Yin (The Last Immortal) and Bai Shuo Shang Shen (Moonlight Mystique). Shen Yin is actually a direct sequel to Shang Gu which narrates the story of the son of Bai Jue and Shang Gu, Yuan Qi. But Bai Shuo Shang Shen, is not really a sequel to Shang Gu. It's either set in the same timeline as Shen Yin or between Shang Gu and Shen Yin as far i know. That's because Bai Shuo was born before Yuan Qi according to ALP, so it should be like this. I'm not sure of its timeline because i only read Shang Gu from this triology.
Who are their parents? Ive watched ALP but I think its different context altoogether. Chinese dramas and MDL always…
It's Tian Qi and Yue Mi's story. Yue Mi is reborn as Bai Shuo - the little girl Qing Mu used to train in Mortal Realm when Hou Chi was exiled for 100 years after their wedding and before Bai Jue woke up... This drama is a standalone though.
That's how a review should be - truly brilliant! I am in total agreement from start to finish... With yours out there, I don't need to write one as my thoughts perfectly align with yours....

I truly wish someday Xu Kai and Bai Lu collaborate for a Xianxia as a lead couple...
