It's about Moonlight Mystique but as you might know, this is the trilogy and are connected to each other. The initial chapters of the third book are just to provide an overview of overall situation of Tian Qi and Yue Mi's story. Without being familiar to their past story it would be difficult to connect with many characters here. And not only these initial chapters include the situation of Divine Realm but also the overview of the book of drama The Last Immortal. Without reading these chapters you may not understand how Tian Qi became Fan Yue and how deep his love is. When Bai Shuo was saved when she was young, Tian Qi was still the Demon God of Divine Realm - one among the four true Gods, then how he become demon king Fan Yue now and why he doesn't have any memory of Divine Realm, it's explained in these chapters...

Though I'm loving Moonlight Mystique too, I have to agree on this - Ancient Love Poetry is still a masterpiece that no one can match, whether it's the CGI, acting, costumes, elegance, portrayal of emotions in the story, and most importantly, the OSTs, which are still on repeat mode in my playlist. That's why it has never slid down from a 10 in my list, even after all this time has passed. I'm missing Liu Xue Yi as Tian Qi in Moonlight Mystique a lot.

Well.. the characters Tantai Jin and Tian Qi (Fan Yue) are completely different character. Their nature is not alike and never meant to be. If you've watched Ancient Love Poetry, you might know. However, I agree that Ao Ruipeng is miscast as ML here but he is trying hard to carry domineering aura, however it's still not enough because he is more cute side.

Here XingYue mean the Goddess of Stars and Moon that's Yue Mi and in mortal world her name is Bai Shuo.
Tian Qi was Jing Yuan in the second arc of ALP (during Hou Chi and Qing Mu's arc) and here in MM he is Fan Yue but I think he's lost the memories of God Realm, which is still not clear.

Makers had to change the original names because of copyright issues.

It's Tian Qi in God Realm when he started the destruction formation according to this drama. There is no mention of Mo Li in the novel as far as I know. As I said Mo Li is Tian Qi and Fan Yue/Jing Yuan is also Tian Qi. They just changed the name Tian Qi to Mo Li because of copyright issues

Yes, he is. But I have yet to read the novel about how Tian Qi became Fan Yue and doesn't have the memory of God Realm. But it's true that they changed the names Tian Qi to Mo Li and Yue Mi to Xing Yue. Also the timeline of this drama is a bit confusing - I don't have any idea that in which timeline they set up this drama as Tian Qi's story starts way after Yuan Qi's in the novel while in drama they said that Tian Qi (Mo Li) started the destruction formation 60000 years ago in which Yue Mi (Goddess Xing Yue) died. In this sence, the setting should be in parallel timeline with Hou Chi and Qing Mu's (ALP). I only have read a few initial chapters of the third novel and anything about Fan Yue is not mentioned till there, but Tian Qi is.

What do you mean by "MIA" ? Yuan Qi died in second novel not in the first one. Second novel was adapted as the drama The Last Immortal while the first novel was adapted as Ancient Love Poetry. This is the third novel which is adapted as Moonlight Mystique. It is mentioned in first chapters of third novel that Tian Qi's whereabouts are not known to anyone for thousands of years since he left God Realm after Bai Jue's revival and he didn't show up when Yuan Qi died.

Yue Mi died but Tian Qi lived on. After Bai Jue's death and Shang Gu's retreat, he managed God Realm's affairs until Bai Jue revived. According to the novel Bai Shuo Shang Shen, after Bai Jue's revival and knowing unconditional Yue Mi's love for him, he wandered in the whole three realms in search of Yue Mi's soul. Nobody had a clue about his whereabouts and he didn't showed up even when Yuan Qi died - Yuan Qi (the male lead of drama The Last Immortal), Bai Jue and Shang Gu's son but was brought up by Tian Qi...

Thank God I rarely watch opening and ending credits before the last episode... It's the case with many dramas out there that's why I mostly skip them... Anyway I'm liking this drama so far..

Can't agree more! I mean, she's just a human with no power to tackle great demons and immortals, so what's wrong with using whatever leverage she has to her advantage? She's trying to improve, but it's not like she can achieve instant growth. Others have been cultivating for years, while she's just starting out, so it's only logical that she'd use that stone as leverage to survive - otherwise, she'd be dead in no time.

There are some deviations in the drama Moonlight Mystique from the actual novel Bai Shuo Shang Shen and also from Ancient Love Poetry, that's why the storyline is not aligning with ALP. In the novel, Tian Qi was searching for Yue Mi's soul like Bai Jue once did for Shang Gu, but Tian Qi couldn't find it after thousands of years of search. And yes, his name was cleared in ALP and as well as in the first novel "Shang Gu"

Yes.. you can. This drama is produced as standalone and almost all the names & storyline from ALP is replaced because of copyright issues. So there's no problem watching it without watching ALP first... Hope this helps..
