If you ever feel stressed, think about the poor subordinate who had to pretend to be Xie Zheng...and also was…
That, but also think about the stress of the ones that have to actually hit him 😂😂😂😂 It can be perceived as bad from his perspective regardless of whether you go too easy on him or too hard 😂
Poor Gongsun Yin, constantly put on the spot with Changyu's questions and having to come up with a reasonable cover for Xie Zheng. And the way she asked if there was only a verbal reward killed me.
With Changyu's misunderstandings, I am not sure I'd be able to keep a straight face if I was the Princess lol
Poor Changning freezing at night because Changyu takes all the covers for herself lol
The scene between the Princess and Gongsun Yin was sweet.
How on Earth did Changyu get the Sui psycho out of the camp if that soldier was shown to be there the whole time, and there were so many other people around? It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be stopped by anyone on the way.
The way he had one of the guys impersonate him was amusing. The way the poor guy didn't know what to do when they started to ask to be punished instead of the other lol
I half expected someone to tell Changyu that the only person matching the description she was giving was the Marquis lol
The way she threw the Princess on top of that stone wall like a sack of potatoes lol And she probably has no clue she's the princess, too lol
They gave Changning a change of clothes <3 I know it's a tiny, silly detail that nobody likely pays any attention to but with how long she has been shown to be wearing the one she arrived in, I find it to be a very nice touch.
"I had no idea you were this severely ill" - Changyu cracking me up so often lol
The scene when the Princess arrived to check on ML was hilarious too.
"I got you a fan" - did you ask the owner if it's ok to take it? lol
Poor Gongsun Yin, trying to figure out what to tell Changyu. Saved by the bell - or a siren, really. At least he told Changyu the truth about his identity. And then later eavesdropping on the reunion and trying to prevent people from ruining it. What a gathering they formed outside that tent, too lol And the way he fell off the stairs hahaha. And the conversation he had with ML later lol Honestly, I'm loving this guy more and more with every episode.
Oh come on! Honestly, if you have so many characters get their throats cut, at least try to make it remotely realistic rather than making it look like the cleanest death of all time.
Guys, I'm glad you rescued Changning and I realise that you probably don't really have anything her size, but don't you think it would be a good idea to at least try to get this poor girl a change of clothes? She's been in the same ones for what, 2-3 months by now?
Of course he came back for Qianqian, I had a feeling it was the only reason why he rushed back.
Awwww, Changyu finding Mr. Zhao. The scene with the weapons was hillarious. The old guy being jealous of the treatment that Changyu gives him was funny, too.
OMG, the previews... And we're only getting one episode a day from tomorrow, how can they be this cruel...
I loved how it completely flew over Fan Changyu's head that the old guy expect her to want to be his disciple, and how she understood what he was saying in the exact opposite way. And when he asked to change his "go" for her "stay", I had a feeling it was going to be something like this.
The guys from Lin'an swapping with other people was nice, too! I was worried for a moment that they were going to stay there and get killed. I was surprised that some of the people were aware of what it was supposed to be about, and even more surprised that they actually found out this fast by overhearing rather than realising when all was said and done, that if they had stayed, they'd die.
For how young she is supposed to be, Changning actually kept the secret that he's not her father but brother-in-law surprisingly long. I half expected her to just childishly say that her dad is dead. Smart kid.
I'm not convinced the maid helping Qianqian is actually on her side. The guy is crazy enough to have sent her there to convince Qianqian that she's helping and to find out exactly what she was thinking and planning.
I just finished watching the drama and I really enjoyed it a lot. More than I expected, really.
I feel like the characters were quite well-balanced and while the politics, battle for the throne, etc. definitely played an important role, they weren’t exhausting like they can be in other dramas. I really like that first and foremost, the brotherhood, the bonds that the characters created with each other along the way, were presented as the most important ones.
I was actually pleasantly surprised by Ao Ruipeng. I’ve only seen him in one drama previously, where he was a bit of a log, so it was interesting to see him play such an animated person as Lei Wujie. Though, there’s no doubts that the voice actor deserves a lot of credit too. And there really is something about Deng Kai that makes him so perfect in the role of an antagonist. I was also surprised by how little we actually saw of Wu Xin in this drama, despite how high the actor is on the cast list. He’s got to be one of the most absent main characters of all times.
If there is one thing I’d complain about in this drama, it’s romance. Perhaps it’s just me but we’ve seen quite a few couples and none of them feel convincing to me. In fact, a part of me feels like romance was really unnecessary; the drama would have been just fine without it, focusing on the brotherhood of the characters without any romantic undertones between the characters.
And probably one thing I don’t understand is – what was the deal with the two scrolls having two different names? Was one of them modified? Or what would be the point of them indicating two different princes? Not that I was surprised by Xiao Se destroying the one with his name. I loved him taking Wu Xin’s advise, sitting down in the Emperor’s seat and deciding it was boring.
After enjoying this, I’m definitely going to watch Dashing Youth and Blood River, although I think season 2 is what I am interested in the most. I don’t mind prequels, I think they can be interesting to flesh out some of the characters a bit more, but I think finding out where things go from where this drama leaves off would be more interesting.
Aww, Fan Changyu becoming a hero, rescuing everyone's children. And aww, Changning and Bao'er reunion.
I loved the scene when she was speaking to the old guy, when the 'bullies' showed up, only for the guys from her hometown to show up. And the way she burst into tears upon seeing them was hilarious, but also kinda sweet.
"Why do I feel like they're talking about the same person?" - hahahahaha, well, probably because they are lol
And even with his limited screentime, I can't help but love Gongsun Yin. He gives off such a cinnamon roll vibes, even if nobody can deny that he's also very smart and everything, and with all these intense, dark men all around, it's nice to see someone with such a completely different aura.
And what the hell are those previews?! He's going to have someone pretend to be Marquis Wu'an to cover his identify in front of Fan Changyu? I can't help but expect it's not going to last long, and be pretty hilarious. And wasn't the princess one of the 'female medics'? Ughhh, I wish they gave us more episodes asap.
As heartbreaking as episode 19 was, a part of me is very interested in the journey in front of the FL now. I kind of wonder, though, how they actually found Changning, did she just wander out again?
FL assuming that the soldiers were fake and running away was quite amusing. It's a shame they didn't show ML reacting to the news, I imagine it had to be pretty interesting.
And poor Qianqian...
At least there's some light in the previews, definitely looking forward to ep 23. Though I have no idea how I'm supposed to survive on just one episode a day next week...
They're both nuts but so far, Qi Min's little brother seems to be the biggest psycho in the drama. I have a feeling that when our dear Marquis finds out what he had done in the town that he was staying in, he's going to meet a very unhappy end by his hands. If the FL doesn't get him first.
I imagine it's for censorship reasons but seriously, I can't help feeling like there should be a little more blood, especially for those who had their throats cut. And I mean, WAY MORE blood. Although I have to agree with one thing - dying like this was definitely too easy for the Song woman.
Granny Kang taking Changning from the street was, I think, the first good thing we've seen this woman do. I guess she did have some decency, hidden somewhere very very deep down.
Okay, I admit, I know nothing about birds training and all that but how would the falcon actually look for someone?
I've seen it in previous episodes too but in this one, where the ML finally found her, it particularly struck me how I really find it nice that they don't look the FL look pristine. There's colour on her face, imperfections, etc. It's a very nice touch, givent he kind of character she is.
"I'm her husband" - umm, after how you parted, I'm unsure she'd agree haha.
I know what you're both doing but come on, was it really necessary for this conversation to turn so hurtful? And ML, couldn't you have started by asking her to wait?
Watching the Emperor gives me second hand embarrassment. They don't all have to be brilliant geniuses but ho-ly, how does that guy even manage to find his way to the seat.
That goodbye scene with the Zhao couple makes me pretty sure the guy will NOT come back safely at all. And I wonder who either impersonated Yan Zheng, or covered for how he was already "captured".
And the goodbye between Changing and Bao'er has completely melted me. These two are too adorable.
I guess we are now entering the action part of the drama. I hope it stays as good as these past 17 episodes.
Wow, what is it with these villains - each more insane than the last one. I thought Qi Min was nuts but his younger brother is apparently even even bigger psycho. And of course he's not going to die; who ever dies by falling off of a cliff in these dramas lol
It's kind of funny that as soon as ML put on a mask, nobody suddenly realises who he is even though he hasn't even bothered to change his clothes.
Now, I'm curious if FL is going to find out who he actually is before he leaves... Well, off to episode 17!
Awwwww, the chat between Gongsun Yin and ML about how FL would be perfect as his partner... And the way the ML hit the snoring guy to make him stop, hahahaha.
Song Yan saying that he had been beaten my a child was amusing. I half expected him to accuse Changning, making a complete idiot of himself haha.
I had a feeling the Grandfather was hiding a secret like this. So, the letter that everyone is after, is actually gone huh?
I can't say I quite follow the politics plot too well. I'm not complaining about the cute slice of life, I wouldn't mind watching that for the whole 40 episodes really, but it feels like there's almost too many players and too little revealed about them for now. Though I sense it's about to change with the ML leaving so soon.
Song Yan's audacity! Here he comes to her, and then says she's the one that can't let go. How I wish he'd just get punched in the face. At least the ML came and told him what he thinks. And the scene of them later beating him while Changning just stands close by and counts was awesome haha.
Poor Changning, a bit of a third wheel between ML and FL. But her piglet lantern - so cute! It's actually so rare for the kids in dramas not to be annoying but she's actually cute and adorable.
As much as I love Gongsun Yin, I knew the peace and bliss couldn't last when it was shown that he is watching them. I had a feeling that ML is going to leave around FL's birthday, they wouldn't have mentioned that date so specifically otherwise.
I honestly don't know whether I love or hate them building this little domestic bliss for the main couple. On one hand, it's super cute but at the same time, it's only a matter of time before it's torn apart.
I loved the whole town showing up at the house so that they could have ML's calligraphy, too. And him teaching Changning to write, that was sooo adorable.
I'm also getting more and more curious about Qi Min and what he might be up to. He's clearly against the Prime Minister, so that's enough for me lol
"What, did you buy this building?" - haha, go Changyu! I loved the way Yu Qianqian treated Madam Song, and everything she told her and how, too lol. I was kind of hoping the lesson she'd be taught would be bigger and more impactful, though.
I also can't help but kinda love Qi Min. He seems like a total psycho but there's something about him and his intensity that also makes him very fun (and hot *cough*). And the way Changyu so innocently makes a remark of how he might just like Qianqian. I can't blame Qianqian for not being too keen on telling her more of her story.
The scene of the kids meeting and playing together was adorable, too. I was kinda wondering if/when these two might meet, so it was a nice surprise for it to happen so soon.
There is something about him that oozes a great villain energy, though. I'm currently watching the Blood of Youth,…
Ooh, thank you. I think I have Love of the Divine Tree and the Wanted Detective on my list, so I'll have to check them out.
I have accidentally come across what I assume is a novel spoiler, so I have a bit of a theory about the princess and how things are going to develop for the side couples. But I'm pretty sure they will find a way to make it work.
And I agree, I really hope there aren't going to be any third wheels.
With Changyu's misunderstandings, I am not sure I'd be able to keep a straight face if I was the Princess lol
Poor Changning freezing at night because Changyu takes all the covers for herself lol
