If you started this, and are reading these comments to see if you should stick it out, don't! It feels like something that failed from the top, despite the talent and competency of the people working on the show. It's so bad in so many ways and does nothing worthwhile or sensible with the only interesting thing which is the premise of her ability to see clocks.
I'm struggling to finish this, i'm on ep12 and only stucking around to see how it ends. I have so many criticisms about the writing, story, pacing, production etc. If you haven't started watching already, DON'T!
I know the subject is delicate but I wish it captured the darkness of suicidal ideation better, and the plot was so male centered an unrealistic but still watchable.
I just rewatched this drama again so many years later and it is so enjoyable; it's fun, warm, funny, and overall feel good. It just feels like a good time. Are there things I could criticize or aspects I didn't care for? of course, but overall it gets my voice and I definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for something light-hearted and feel good.
It just needs more focus, like focusing on the crime, Bong Soon's character development, career development and romance with sparing comic relief and it would instantly be better although still need a lot of work. There was just so much unnecessary plot like the construction, gangster scene 1,000,001, and the monk, and the domestic violence. Like what even happened to his family they just fall off the face of the drama. Why was it even necessary to link the gangsters to his family? Let's not forget the gay plot, all parts of it. Even the fucking criminal loses his focus, they totally start off with a criminal profile for someone who is crazy and then.... not so crazy? totally different profile. All over the god damn place. Yet still entertaining. I was also very annoyed that they barely gave Kyung-Shim an identity other than to victimize her and make it more personal for Bong Soon. They should focus more on a character like her and give her a purpose of her own instead of character's like the manager, and the monk, and the gangsters. I would not mind seeing someone remake this drama in a few years, or maybe another country doing a remake a little bit sooner.
I really enjoyed watching this drama, far from perfect but very entertaining and I would definitely recommend it but not without giving a heads up that this show suffers a real lack of focus, too much plot, too many genres barely held together
I am loving this drama! The main characters are so juxtaposed, she feels everything and expresses everything without restraint, without self-consciousness,and without inhibition; her ability to allow herself to be so vulnerable is enviable. In contrast, the male lead is so passionate, and disciplined but internalizes everything with zero communication skills, and a crippling fear of embarrassment. I'm only 12 episodes in but so far it's a recipe that gets us nowhere.
There are a few things this drama did a good job at, particularly addressing feminism in respect to Korean culture and raising many questions and criticism but aside from that it was all over the place. It felt like I watched 3 totally different dramas... a foodie workplace romance, then a career drama, then a family melodrama. Some of the characters were all over the place as well. I definitely feel like I wasted my time here even though there were parts I like and parts that were realistic even when realism wasn't interesting but overall it didn't hold together for me.
I want to say it's a fine movie but I can't because at no point did I care about any of the characters, the plot was dull and lacked movement, the characters lack character, and the supposed depth is more shallow than subtle. The movie however did manage to capture a few real moments which definitely added to its value.
