EP 5: Yeah can we take a moment to appreciate how absolutely cooked 宋国公 (Duke Song) is after this case, like he pissed off the emperor by knowingly sending his daughter (previously pregnant) for marriage, this is lowkey a death-penalty offense...
EP5: am I the only one who's still lowkey confused as to why the big bro admitted something he didn't do? "To protect her" sounds like a flimsy reason.
ep28: If you lose against that guy, you die immediately; if you lose against the guy, you indirectly prove that the current emperor is an idiot for being superstitious and executing an innocent woman...
She literally cannot win lmao.
Edit: Nvm I can't laugh anymore after finishing ep 28
Episode 27: Watching 'The Glory' (well, the first few episodes) then watching the same thing happen in The Double just hit me with an extreme sense of Déjà vu lmao
(tbf, it's the same author (QSCK), so...understandable.)
Serious question: What I don't understand is why she never felt the need to get some sort of hidden weapon or any form of self-defense mechanism. She knows she can't fight AND she will constantly be in danger, why didn't she at least, like, ask Duke Su for that?
Either learn a little bit of martial arts (the guy for that is easily within her reach on a daily basis) or get hidden weapons (the guy for that is ALSO easily reachable) to make up for the lack of martial arts.
Quick wits can only get you so far in dire situations no? She is practically cooked if she's against someone out to kill her and Duke Su is not nearby?
Guys, at this point, I've been waiting for this drama for over a year. I really hope we will all like it and it…
Ngl, I waited so long for this that I straight-up went ahead and read the novel (simplified chinese ver. for the OG sauce). It was pretty good I'd say. If you're impatient, just read the book...it's gonna (arguably) be better than the show anyways, taking some of the leaks into consideration, lol.
I genuinely think the first 8 episodes is some of the best kdrama we've ever seen. Perfect pacing + intensity with tremendous amounts of world-building.
Episode 1-8 by themselves would be number 1 on my top-10 list lol. If only season 2 was as good as season 1 ep 1-8...that would've been so good.
It's kinda hard to explain in English but uh...in the book, Wu Miao loves to use 'special bugs' which serves various kinds of purposes (e.g. Emotional / psychological manipulation) and her power is complete control and dominance over the entire species of 'special bugs', which is why she is the 'divine priestess' as she is the only one in like 100 years to fully master that power. Once-in-a-generation kinda thing. There's a ton more about it in the book but none of that is in the show so treat everything I just said as yapping
8.1 is lowkey really low considering how good the show actually is
(also, looking back, I still think episode 9 is absolute cinema)
(also also, as someone who's finished the entire book, the only complaint I have is that she isn't using any of her cool powers from the book...well, at least 25 episodes in, or maybe the show version of Jiang Si just doesn't have special powers...? It's lowkey strange that she isn't using them even in life-or-death situations...does she even have powers?)
What I got: An entire town worth of bodies beneath the buried surface
This is reaching like, Riverside Code at Qingming Festival levels of darkness, holy sh-
Mate you can literally see the Elden Ring boss room fog wall outside, maybe bring a weapon or two before going in...
"The head of a body can give you lots of information and tell you lots of things." (the opposite is also true if the head is missing)
She literally cannot win lmao.

"bruh the amount of pure aurafarming she's doing is CRAZY"

I wonder if I should even read the book to prepare for Cheng Yi's S3...
