Pretty pointless article imo even though I understand your intentions. It will just be korea vs weebs.
This comment feels very pointless and disrespectful towards the writer who put both time and effort in to writing this and obviously did find it interesting.
I do understand your frustration but also think some of theses are part of the making of a fairytale the whole…
I think you will enjoy my next article (it is currently waiting for a second editor) called bring out your inner anger... it is more of a humour piece but some of what you wrote reminded me of that. And I honestly think how women are portrayed (stupid, innocent etc) is definitely something I could write an article or two about in the future 🤔 but it is complicated and again still a global issue. Even if it has gotten better.
in "worst male lead's" list one of most voted is Itaewon Class...Why is ML bad? because he didn't loved FL????…
I honestly do not know why people voted the way they did on that list, I guess leaving it open like that made way for peoples own interpretations and I find it rather fascinating that people can have so many interpretations of what makes a bad male lead.
what gives me cringe more and more in Kdramas or any Asian dramas:1. ALWAYS FIRST LOVE - why should love be first?…
I do understand your frustration but also think some of theses are part of the making of a fairytale the whole and they lived happily ever after... and can be part of Asian dramas charm with the met in childhood, one love kind of thing. Not always a good message so I guess it is good to be aware.
When it comes to inocenss, women not being shown as sexual beings etc. It is actually still part of the gender conventions world wide it is just shown more clearly in many of theses Asian dramas but if you look closely you will see it everywhere, including places where it is supposed to be challenged traces will always be found.
Never understood the hype behind Boys Over Flowers, as far as my memory goes, both male leads were rubbish at…
BoF felt like watching the mother of K-,dramas so I enjoyed it for entertainment value not values... I am going to take a wild guess and say that it is because she does not want him to have a next time...
Good article, but I'm a little surprised Start-Up didn't get more mention here. In my 10+ years of Kdrama watching,…
To be honest I was distracted by other parts of the story when I watched it, so I guess I did not notice what you noticed but maybe I should re-watch it or just live with the illusion that Do San was a sweetheart 🤔 Anyway I appreciate this addee information and I hope it will get read by others.
Thank you, I have not seen born again, but did see Start-Up and can not really recall red flags there (more than…
I think I was distracted by the whole great first episode his inner struggles and use technology to help part that I failed to notice those parts... may have to watch it again.
I have seen the first 15 episodes, So far they are not perfect but no romanticising of jealousy, ownership or stalking either he does follow her around and may be a bit persistent but at least he does it openly nothin really forced even if she has been pinned up against the wall twice, but only with one arm (not 2) and it was more for conversation than " I shall now kiss you"... Some good one liners as well, I liked how she said that she does not need protection...
Great article, love reading it!Wish “One Spring Night” wasn’t as underrated as it is,because it portrays…
Thank you, yes OSN is so underrated, but then again I know I am a bit bias when it comes to JHI... I am happy you love reading them, I do love writing them ❤
