It does make perfect sense. The number above each column on the Age Group diagram does refer to the rating for each age group, though keep in mind it is the average rating, not median (there is a difference). As you said, they are all pretty high, so if you combine them all the average rating would probably come together to be around 8.8 (didn't calculate it, just a rough guess). However, that is only the case when you consider the 63.1% of ALL ratings that is included in that diagram. Again, I don't know why the remaining 36.9% are not included, but perhaps entering your age is not required here on MDL, in which case the ratings of those who have not put in their age can naturally not be included, or maybe it's not necessary to have an account to be able to rate a drama, in which case it would similarly not be included as they cannot determine the users age. Who knows what reason it could be, but surely there is one. And then, since the drama rating is set at 8.3 (currently), that means the ratings of those 36.9% are low enough to drag it down to that.
