Thanks for writing this review; I am seriously thinking of watching this show after reading your review. Just…
Yes, there is a long lost sister. My favourite story line from this drama, it made me cry so much. So beautiful and powerful. The long lost sister is played by Lee Jung Eun as Kang Cho Yeon / Song Young Sook
"I Promised You The Moon" is not just a change from Phuket to Bangkok or School to college, but it's more to do with Teh and Oh Aew. As their relationship grows, things change. Nothing remains the same in the Bangkok environment. More than Oh Aew, it was Teh who was excited to move to Bangkok, there is this sudden desire for "Change" in the environment. When Oh Aew got his Tatoo, we can see Teh unhappiness. Even though the tattoo was about Teh, he couldn't accept the fact that Oh Aew got a tattoo, just cause his friends got a tattoo.
The Bathtub scene in episode 2 is the most beautiful thing ever. Teh tells Oh Aew, that he doesn't want to continue learning performing arts. Oh Aew's growing interest in Advertising, makes Teh realize that things are not going according to his plan. His dream for him and his partner to become actors together. Oh Aew tells Teh, "Studying arts, "If you're not talented, you can't far." and then there is another line, "Sometimes what I didn't like before, might grow on me someday." These lines to me were interesting and it has a spoon full of realism. This is the truth about life generally, everything in the world changes, nothing remains constant. There is a quote from the movie Ghost in teh Shell, "Everything changes in a dynamic environment.", I Promised you the MOon gives justice to this quote. What if Oh Aew and Teh remained in Phuket, and studied Communication Arts. Would then still Oh Aew be still interested in Performing arts? Maybe or not really.
The most heartbreaking scene would be the scene where Kim cries that she can't get the main lead roles in acting. We then see her applying for many roles and not giving up. This made Teh idolize Kim, he found some inspiration in it. What he wanted to do, he found in Kim. Though Oh Aew's dreams have changed but not Kim. Then we can see Kim telling Teh on her graduation day, that she chose to become a flight attendant, and also apply for acting roles in the future. This broke Teh even more. His partner Oh Aew is changing, Kim has changed and slowly the change in the environment hits him.
The concept of change is simple and it's shown towards the end of episode two. We can see under the moon, Oh Aew and Teh making a promise to love each other always no matter what. The series is called "I Promised You the Moon", the moon is always the same but to us people on the earth, it's seen in different shapes but it's always the same moon. So goes with the concept of change, everything changes in the environment, but will Teh change?
