I think he did what his mother asked him that is to hide themselves in the haystack, so he hid his sister and…
He couldn't have. If he had, they both would have died. The bad guys know there are two kids, a daughter and a son. There was no one to step into the daughter role so they would have searched harder for them. In a way, he actually saved himself by following instructions.
EP 1 : The fuck? why didn't he take her with him inside the bunker ?
Because his mother tells him to take the sister to the haystack. He is a small boy, in a culture where you listen to your parents, in a violent and high stress situation.
You can't judge from a perspective of an adult looking from the outside, making judgements in a calm atmosphere.
Nirvana in Fire is similar, though. The main character also doesn't possess any martial arts skill and is in fact…
He didn't say there are no other dramas that are similar, he said unlike a "typical one" and he is correct.
There is a fundamental difference between NiF and Zanghai and it's already pretty clear that this one difference will matter the most and that it has already determined the shape of Zanghai as a story.
Mei Changsu was already an adult with plenty of life experience when the tragedy happened and enters the story as a fully realised, powerful character who has everything set out. Zanghai was a child when his tragedy struck and he had to hide for ten years while getting his education. That isolation plus his age really influence the story because he has no real life experience and his revenge is absolutely not going to be close to MCS's well planned in advance one.
So sure, on the surface they are alike but the execution is very different. I adore NiF and am glad we have a good revenge story again but am also glad that apart from the main theme, there is a fundamental difference in execution.
Zanghai is Zanghai, not another NiF, and that is how it should be.
Xiao zhan character looks very weak, innocent, dumb and soft hearted. It doesn't feel like he saw his entire family…
And that's why there is character development. It really depends on your preferences but I really like that we will get to see him evolve and become strong through success and failure. Of course, some may prefer him to be ruthless right out of the gate but considering he was a child when the tragedy occurred, not an adult or even a young adult, I like they are doing it this way.
But don't you think it's less because some other drama crossed 26000 on first day Why is thatπ€
Keep in mind, you cannot compare heat across platforms. Every platform has its own way of calculating heat. You can only compare data within one platform data set.
This is fantastic heat (it actually just broke 8k) for Youku and especially because it only had a few hours to do so. It didn't air around noon, but already in the evening and heat counts only until midnight that day. To be first ever on the platform is amazing! If it reaches 10k which is it for Youku, it's brilliant but 8k on the first day is wow.
Days ago, a certain group was caught in public planning mass downvoting of ZHZ. It's been reported to the production but it's unlikely they can do much. The same group is active here plus a couple others that regularly downrate XZ dramas. I know it is frustrating but don't let it distract you from the magnificence of Zanghai. It is so good!
Just rate every episode as you see it. That is what we can do. The antis will do their thing and that still won't change the TV ratings of the first day, or all the ads, or the heat, or the really positive impressions people are reporting.
Second episode peaked at around 2.12% with over 10% market share which is excellent for a costume on CCTV8! It's just starting so hopefully it will ferment nicely in the days to come π€
I am going to be watching on CCTV so before it starts - I hope everyone has a lot of fun and I hope we have a great drama on our hands. See you on the other side, enjoy!!
I guess too many people demand romance so it is hard to skip in scripts. Here I am optimistic about ZHZ because from what was leaked, she has her own storyline, is a strong woman that is quite capable so overall, it should be a good, rounded character and not a prop. If it works out that way, it should fit into the story organically enough.
Awesome pre airing results ! Youku will make some good money π
That would be a lot of money! CXFX are also doing gifts of monthly membership so that's going to be an added bonus. Youku doesn't operate like Tencent or iQiyi, they don't have cloud bookings that are used to boost heat there so this type of monthly subs is the only option.
If normal discussion triggers them, then that's their problem. They will downrate this drama anyway because it won't have enough romance for their taste.
Anyway, to answer your post, nothing we know so far indicates anything but a side story. So more than NiF but not overwhelming. I actually like romance and I don't mind it at all in the story but in dramas like these I prefer my focus on revenge, politics and adventures and I do believe we are getting that.

Overall the data today is excellent, it's topping Lighthouse as well.

It's only going to get worse I am afraid.
