All those yes. But the predictability part...is actually a bit tricky and unpredictable for me.I think Fan Xian is supposed to be the unpredictable one. The most important reason being his consciousness from the other world. But we know where JoL season 1 ends... Is there someone else who can calculate him into their schemes??. I am waiting for season 2 to come out and take his unprecedented unpredictablity to another level.Lol...FX doesn't have any excuses to disappoint us...On the other hand I think Feng Nian, (let's keep aside the matter that he was/is/isn't reluctant to take up the position as the lord of Bei Liang) was born into and know by heart the nuances of all relations, political or otherwise....it is his turf...No one can calculate his ultimate move( not saying the immediate move) coz he is/his motives are actually the one in the hiding. He really likes to and is capable of leading his enemies astray. Even if one flags him down as intelligent they can't really put their fingers on what exactly his deal is.Oops we as an audience can predict and it may(most probably) even be true...but along the way Feng Nian will make us doubt if we choose it right....till the last moment.For me they both are unpredictable. Even in the unpredictablity part, Fan Xian is shamelessly crooked while Feng Nian is unexpectedly straight.:) :)

I hope it grows on you. I got hooked at epi 1. 2-4 seemed out of place to me. Got rehooked at 5, started binging from epi 14-15, ended up with no more reserve episodes and had to watch one a day...some episodes were a bit slow than others... Its all about telling/showing the story. The show will take its sweet time. For this story, 38 is hardly enough... It has its flaws....But then it is journey you might fall in love with.

Subtle. Not ut there. But actually there kind. A very strong romantic undercurrent though romantic actions are very few and far in between. Romance is not the focus
