The special ep ending was similar to Kdrama 'The Red Sleeve' in particular, also 'Queen of Tears'.
I didn't read the epilogue, while reading the book.
But ended up watching the special ep on the drama, coz of their amazing chemistry. I loved Kai and Seven as Han ting & Ji Xing. This drama will always have a spot in my favorite list.

I'm glad that ratings here on MDL are rising.
This drama deserves no less than an 8.5.

New watchers should know...
There were repeated attempts to sabotage the ratings . Antifans had appeared in bouts from time to time to down rate the show. It had a rating of 6.7 when only the initial 3 of 40 episodes have been released.
So many people had genuinely voted for this drama after finishing, which had helped the ratings climb up.

I request all of you who finish watching the drama, to rate the drama as per your honest opinion.

This was the first chinese novel i read, (because i knew it was gonna be adopted to screen) .
I'm more into mysteries, haven't come across more such novels. It was 1st of its kind that i read & fell in love with.

If you happen to have read some, I'd welcome recommendations. 😊

And thats exactly how it was in the novel (the original work).
In order to include the 'together since forever & the made for eachother trope', to make them classmates, the original concept was modified.
As per the book, Han ting was 7 -8 years older than Ji xing.
If you like to read,
I'd strongly recommend the novel "As beautiful as Beijing". Its a beautiful book. I loved it ❤

I think they didnt wanted to end it with han Ting's death, and an old age lonely Ji Xing, so they probably did a rewind scene, to leave us with happy memory.

I dont know whether you've watched the Kdrama 'The Red Sleeve'. It had a similar ending (a flashback memory).

I back your decision of not watching the extra episode, while rewatching. I've chosen to do the same, as well.

That's what I thought too.
The 1st thing i watched after express release was the Special Episode.
Now when i catch up (its been on hold since E15), i would like to end it with "Happily ever after " Ending at E40.

I love love love this drama.
Its no. 1 in my favorite list now. ❤

It was very emotional.
In the end, death took them apart.
Its like reality hitting you that nothing is permanent & time is limited.

When i read the book , i had intentionally left the last chapter, so as to not spoil my mood.
But it endedup happening anyway.
It was because, and very emotional.
I regret watching the epilogue.

The only drama after business proposal, where i didn’t fast-forwarded any scenes of SML SFL .
Lu linjja and tu xiaomeng had nailed it. They were fantastic .

Agree. In the book her ex was in the footage for one third but here , his screen time was severely reduced. It was a good thing though.
The way they adapted the novel after episode 35 was crazy. It was fantastic. Loved every bit of it .

Lu linja deserved 'main role' tag.

How on earth is kai pale and skinny? He had abs in everysingle shirtless scene.

If you dont wanna watch a bittersweet ending, I'd recommend watching no more than 5 minutes of special episode , or you can also skip it all together, if you want a " Happily ever after ending ".
Coz reality hits hard in the special episode of 12 minutes .
I was heartbroken 💔 😞

More so, it was just the same hall and garden for portraying all their years after marriage .
I would've been happier with a happily ever after type of ending , rather than choosing to go by the book, upto the end of their life . It was heartbreaking to watch 💔

Cant believe, after one and a half year of anticipation, craving for new episodes for the last 20 days.... It finally comes to an end.
