I think without Goblin, dramas like Hotel Del Luna, Tale of the Nine Tailed, Mystic Popup Bar and Angel's Last Mission would not have been made. Goblin's influence can be felt in more ways than one.

It's not like Netflix is not doing the same with trying to change the kdrama format to have multiple seasons.

On MDL selection bias is a huge thing. Everyone reads reviews and drama summaries and people are unlikely to start/rate something they wouldn't enjoy. (unlike your significant other, or kids dragging you to the cinema, or watching something on TV while being half asleep)

Imdb is no longer what it once was, big AAA productions used to be inflated by fake votes. Now it's even weirder though, the ratings make no sense for some recent (oscar winning) movies.

I agree with you 100%. I understand that if people like something they want more of it, but I wish they realized that the reason why they like these shows is because they tell complete stories in 16 episodes..

I have watched and even reviewed Flower of Evil. Anyhow the point I was trying to make is that no matter how great Flower of Evil and Beyond Evil were and how well the actors in question performed in those shows, the average viewership ratings in South Korea were relatively low for both, so they have a negligible chance for Daesang. (average ratings of 3.927% and 4.716% respectively)

Only commercially successful dramas win big awards, it's unfair, but that's just how it is.

This is one of the best romance dramas I have ever seen. 9+ dramas are non romance and also some ppl just gave this a low rating due to not liking to watch mental illness related stuff.

That's just not realistic. Even the best acting performances of all time won't be enough, if the drama they've acted in only had 4-5% viewership ratings.

When it comes to censorship, or more specifically what can and cannot be shown on television South Korea has always been pretty heavy handed with its rules. Rules imposed by law & self imposed rules to make sure all demographics are pleased are aplenty.
Have you ever seen a kdrama where the OTP eloped and lived a happy life apart from the toxic parents? There is no such drama, because there would be ajumma armies enraged by the show creator's blatant disregard of confucianist ideals.

In fact the differencea between cdramas and kdramas in terms of censorship are effectively negligible.

Shin Hye Sun should just win the Daesang and I'll be okay with Seo Yea Ji winning best actress.
( Kim Soo Hyun will probably win the Daesang though, not undeservedly, but it's still somewhat unfair..)

They recorded the dubs in a studio, the acoustics are completely different from how they should be, the dubbing is indeed jarring at times.

I just picked this up. I'm watching ep6 right now. I'm not saying that I don't like the show, but what kind of crap hospital is this. Queue at a lift, so they cannot take a patient recovering from brain surgery to the ICU? Netizens not understanding that brain damage takes priority over a broken arm? Let's not even talk about the transfer. It's just a plain stupid episode so far.

(in a real hospital there are enough lifts and if not people with minor issues can just walk up the stairs.)
