If you are okay with gaming being more in focus, then the GoGo Squids should be appealing to you as well, especially the second one. (there is also Love O2O, if you are not into cancel culture)

KwangSoo would be a great Shelden, but I disagree with many of the other choices. (okay maybe MiDo could work as Bernadette)
I would be okay with a double Somin lineup. Jeon Somin as Bernadette & Jung Somin as Penny. I have no idea for Amy, maybe Ha JiWon?

Anyhow I would love it if they made a 16 episode long kdrama adaptation, I'm confident it would be much better than the original.
