On the right track
So called " strong female lead " stories tend to gravitate toward being ridicules , this one was able to pull it off nicely which is a big plus for me as I generally approach stories like this with caution. I'm a huge fan of strong female fighters , when done right there's a positive outcome, when overdone they fail miserably. This one kept the right balance which made it enjoyable. I'm starting to think that the lesser know productions like this are much more appealing than the most popular. I've watched hundreds of popular series over the years and they seem to be getting worse . I've dropped more series this year than ever.
I wanted to point out that the costumes in this story were really well done, I usually don't comment on that but really felt compelled to give a thumbs up. I didn't like the crying men, I don't like that in anything. The attempts to manipulate the audiences emotions were evident like with most series but minimal in this one which was nice. I think this was originally longer and someone felt the need to cut it way down to 18 episodes, too bad because it's a pretty decent production overall. Glad I watched this hidden gem that does a much better job staying true to the wuxia genre than a lot of others have lately.
