This is my comfort BL! I've watched it countless times. I don't see it as toxic, and I am so into the loving relationship being built between the MLs. D/S isn't necessarily toxic; and this version of it is pretty sweet. I would LOVE season 2!

I'm the same! I've watched this countless times! It's a masterpiece! I also started learning Japanese after this one. I want to be able to watch without reading subtitles. I'm so happy to know there is someone else in the world who appreciates this series the way I do and for similar reasons. The only other series that came close for me was Life in Smokey Blue, but that one lacks the humor. I'm glad I found your post! おきをつけてください！
I've seen a ton of BL. I appreciate that nothing is for everyone, but this really is a masterpiece. If you haven't watched it, you should. I wouldn't binge it, it needs to breathe. And if you find yourself wanting to speed through the episodes, maybe set this one aside and come back when you are in the mood to sit with it a bit more patiently. (Or drop if its just not for you.) I've def paused a series for months even and actually enjoyed it when I returned. This one is not a boys kissing eye candy series, although you do get some of that. Its visually appealing, the music is great, the story is pretty well constructed, and I loved the cast and their characters. There are some things I would change, but overall this one really got me. Full disclosure, I'm a whole grown ass woman and probably the age of the main cast's parents. I'm watching from that perspective, which I assume informs my view.
There's this great moment in the Kiseki BTS where a bit-part actor expressed anxiety that he would accidentally get kissed in a nonscripted location during his scene, which he characterized as a nightmare for guys. Nat Chen responded "I'm a guy" and gave the camera a mischievous smile. That is the exact moment I fell deeply in (unrequited) love with Nat.

We are clearly not at the end story-wise but the episodes are almost spent. Ugh! Season 2 would be great, but I dont want them to try to tie everything up in the finale if thats the plan.
Right now, my only complaints are the spoilers in the previews for episode 10 (really guys!?), the number of episodes (we needed at least 12), and the spike in my anxiety levels during episode 9 (which is obviously a me problem). I guess I could add my distress at knowing I can never marry either of the lead actors (and any number of the supporting cast members).
I want better direction and editing to make the chemistry read better. This last episode had a lot of unrealized potential. There were a lot of great moments in the NC scene, but better blocking, editing, and whatever else they needed to feel more relaxed and natural would have made it peak sexy. They had a good concept and decent execution, but a few tweaks would have made it fire! A really hot scene is way more surgical than some viewers realize.
Second, what's with all these recent series not giving enough breathing room for the story? Is the final episode 3 hours? sheesh!
